United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White
Time to go?

It's getting nearer - got out today to check out a few motors I fancied, and although the list is not yet done I have fallen for a

    BMW 3 SERIES 2.0 320D XDRIVE M SPORT TOURING 5d AUTO 188 BHP

Booked a test drive for Monday
Not the same type of car as a FL2 more reminiscent of my XType Jag Estate but what a spec Shocked
If I decide that is the future I will add more details

So I may be off soon - in which case my MY13 FL2 will be up for grabs sometime No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Funnily enough, I started a new job in 2013 and was offered a new 320d Touring as a company car (complete with fuel card), which is why I took the mileage allowance instead, parted with my private use Focus RS and spent my own money on a Firenze Red 2012 HSE FL2 Thumbs Up

Sure, they are much better looking than they used to be, particularly as an M Sport, but it’s still got the space of a doll’s house inside, BMW’s less than stellar 2.0 diesel and the “X-Drive” will get you stuck, in the mud and snow, like the FL2’s 4 wheel drive system won’t. Oh and you’ll need to get used to not getting let out at junctions anymore Wink

I appreciate that LR aren’t currently making things easy for us to buy another one, but isn’t there anything better than this out there? Thumbs Up

Thanks for feedback - it's just caught my eye and I still have others to see

But the spec is unbelievable for the money (including autopark - what a toy Shocked )

I am trying to be objective about the replacement vehicle but I do need to actually "like" the car at an instinctive level and the BMW is the first one that has rung my bell - never had one before and frankly not been a fan of the German cars until now so will wait and see how I get on.

We have had plenty of German cars, mostly BMW and never had a bad’un.....we have enjoyed each and every one. But they were bought because we wanted one not because we had to have one.

Although I do agree the 3 series is tiny inside, even compared to our i3 the front space in the 3 series feels cramped.

Nowadays we like a car we can “slide into” rather than fall into and climb out of Rolling with laughter Regards

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

The replacement for any FL2 certain isn’t an obvious one. Do you mind if I ask what else you’re looking at?

Wow, that list has just about every base covered!

A 3008 or a Jaguar XJ? On the same shortlist? It’s certainly diverse Thumbs Up

I ran a 2.0D M Sport Touring from 2009 to 2013 as a company car . Obviously the rear wheel drive model . It was my 3rd Beemer, all were run to a high mileage .The first a 3 coupe and the 2nd a5 Msport to 120k miles . It was a lovely car . Two things , 1) if the tyres are run flats they don’t repair 2) Beware ! they just feel “ right “ when you sit behind the wheel and they encourage spirited driving . Going from a Freel2 to a 3 series Touring will feel like changing an axe for a stiletto , reserve a few bob for speeding fines Rolling with laughter

All three of those cars felt tight and composed after clocking up the miles . Enjoy it . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

@J77: Volvo are certainly making some very handsome cars at the minute (XC40 excluded, obviously!) Thumbs Up The XC60 and the V90 are especially nice. Volvo seats seam even more brilliant than ever, even if the ergonomics aren't such a strong a point as they used to be.

Parked next to an XC60 at hospital last week......wow what a lovely interior, and the exterior is one of the better designs IMHO.

When they really get a grip on their Hybrid/EV drivetrain coming soon they will be a killer 4X4........and hopefully with tow capacity just for the die hards in here Wink

Laughing Regards
