United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

There isn’t a system in the world that can provide traction on the wrong tyres in the wrong conditions. Over the last shooting season I saw a Range Rover and a Porsche Cayenne both on awesome wheels and drug dealer tyres , both needing a tow from the Keeper with his Isuzu pick up . Our Freelander on 17” Scorpion ATR slipped and slid but got out as did a variety of others correctly shod . If I’d taken the Scooby on the Bridgestone weather control A005 I’d have needed a tow too . So Tyres , Tyres , Tyres , plus a bit of common sense( and 35 years of using a vehicle off road helps a little bit too) on what you expect the car to do . Our continental cousins have managed to drive rear wheel beemers in snow for years. However they have the nouse to change the tyres at the end of Autumn. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I'm off today to see what Skoda offer - want to explore just what the "Laurin & Klement " badge means and have a look at the Koraq and Kodiak

and yes a double single malt sounds good to me Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I’d imagine it’s the same as the Ghia badge on the fords in days of yore, and heaven forbid the special edition LR did with the stick insect woman promoting them....... Rolling with laughter

I always found the Skodas to be a bit plain inside, like a VW.......the Audi are more luxuriously trimmed but same running gear of course, depends upon your priorities and pocket!

The Korean mob seem to be a favourite choice for many, might be worth a look? Regards

My friend has a Tuscon - very nice - lots of kit for the money - had proved very reliable on their almost monthly holidays to Wales, Norfolk and Yorkshire.

FWIW its worth Im thinking of replacing the Fiesta ST with a i30N Jules

Like the Skoda replacement for the Yeti - the Karoq Scout version but not sure it is worth the extra cost for a few bits of trim and a sunroof Shocked they are still on the list though and I think I will test drive one as part of my final choices. Some good deals around too.

Skoda Kodiaq - great car but too big for my needs and although the luxury version of the Superb lives up to its name it was too low for our worn out knees.

Next a tour of the main dealers in Newcastle to check out Volvo, Hyundai and Peugeot No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

This is very interesting to follow Thumbs Up

I couldn’t bring myself to buy a VW product Sad The Germanic interiors and often firm ride are one thing, but their emissions cheating and the shabby way they treated their (non US) customers is hard to forgive.

I’m interested to see what you make of the Volvo’s (if the 60,000 mile warranty limitation isn’t an issue) Thumbs Up

An XC60 it is then Laughing ( just don’t be tempted by the “Twin engine” Rolling Eyes ).

If LR still made the FL2, would you have just had another?

We replaced my wife’s 07 Plate Fl2 HSE which we’d had from new with one of the last Yetis (a L&K one). The Fl2 never put a foot wrong from new. The Yeti has been the same for 18 months, it was pre registered with less than 100 miles cost £20k and they gave us £4K for the Fl2 which needed a new Haldex. The Yeti is probably more practical as it has a deeper boot, does over 50mpg on a run has all the toys but not the driving position. The 4x4 system works fine in the snow and the Skoda customer service has been spot on unlike LR dealers. D4 HSE Lux for me
FL2 HSE Zermatt & Alpacca for the wife now gone
Skoda Yeti L&K for the wife.
