With 215/75 R16 you are able to use standard snow chains.

With 235/65 R17 or bigger wheels you have to use the Spikes Spiders or similar systems.
Because there is not enough space between the back ...

Most European Freelander 2 have DPF since somewhere in 2007.
UK Freelander 2 have DPF since my2011.

The twisted dip stick is normal.
The black oil, too. Oil in Diesel engines gets black VERY fast. But it's nothing to worry about.
