My sister is an ex-nurse a long time ago, she is seriously worried. She is the only one who goes shopping & wears a mask in her family.

Don't your hospitals have security which the nurses can call. If sounds like it needs to be dramatically increased.

Unfortunately it sounds like we need a lot more young people to die to send a messsge! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Sadly, my father-in-law passed away this afternoon.
My brother-in-law was informed by the hospital that his father had suddenly gone down hill, and said he would be allowed in briefly, but he had already gone by the time he arrived.
There was a Police Officer on the door who asked who he was ,why he was there, etc.
When he left he spoke to the Officer who informed him how they had to arrest 5 people already today who refuse to comply with the hospital rules. The Officer also stated how stupid the general public are and how they seem not to understand the severity of this whole situation. Rolling Eyes

Sorry to hear that.

We had to call the police several times during my time on ICU - its a stressful place for relatives and some cannot control their emotions especially when alcohol is involved.

Only got back to UK 10 days ago but have joined a group of retirees returning to work to support our ICU colleagues - not as straight forward as it may seem - contracts, ID badges, carparking, computer access, CRB checks - it probably wont be all ready when we turn up but we all feel we gotta help somehow as the situation on the ICUs is dire. Jules

I know they do a lot of good work with hospitals, especially with children, so I wonder if there might be some volunteers to help on the ward doors from local Hell's Angels chapters. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Vodafone has supplied phone location data to the government so the government can see how long people are keeping or not keeping social distance. Probably the other telcos have or will do do soon. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Lightwater, how does that work? Simply by identifying large groupings of people? Accuracy around here seems to be pretty variable, with my phone often showing me to be a couple of miles out to sea, when I don‘t even have a boat! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Yes, I understand millimetre accuracy GPS (or equivalent) from satellite, but surely mobile ‘phone location is still based on triangulation from 4G or 3G masts? There are still “not spots” for 3G near me, and I was assuming that phone location services were poor here because of the limited triangulation available? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

So sorry to hear that, thoughts with you and your family.....

My Son told us one of the hardest parts of this virus is telling close relatives they cannot be with their loved ones as they pass, although just occasionally in “special circumstances” they look the other way for a few minutes.....he said they don’t have enough PPE for the Doctors let alone relatives who should be at the bedside.

But he did say they never leave a patient alone at that time, there is always a nurse or doctor there, it’s not just a job for these people. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Regarding location, it is possible to remotely access any data on a phone, the only way to stop data transmission is to remove the battery,. The only reason why triangulation is used is purely legal, it is illegal at present to use GPS position without permission and you grant location for specific reasons for various apps, should the government decide and pass a bill your location will be accessible to the appropriate authorised services. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

A lot of apps use the phone's GPS, often for no real value other than selling advertising.

The phone's GPS plus a lot of other data is available & probably used by telcos.

They don't need accuracy to the mm but proximity & movement patterns provides more than enough information to see if the population is doing the right thing.

Leave your phone at home, better still don't buy one in the first place! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
