New Freelander owner

Hi Folks,

Just added a 2009 Freelander 2 XS to the stable alongside a D2, D3 and a 68 2a

I am hoping i will spend less time fixing the Freelander than I do the D3!

Hopefully it will need less maintenance but when it does it will be a damn site cheaper than on a D3 Laughing

(Ive recently moved out of a D4 back into a FL2, the D2, D3, D4 are amazing all round vehicles but you do need deep pockets or a big tool kit.

What Ho!

I am looking for a Freelander 2 HSE i6 to replace my Honda CR-V. I have driven a fair few miles in two Freelander 2s, one a 2007 Martinique Blue HSE diesel and the other a 2010 Galway Green HSE diesel. I remember being very impressed with the off road capability at a Land Rover day at Rockingham Castle.

In addition, I have done many miles in Classic and P38 Range Rovers, as well as innumerable miles in Series I & II Landies when I served in the army, sloshing around Germany, thrashing through the forests of Belize and trying to keep warm in Ulster.

I much prefer petrol engines, which is why I'm on the lookout for an i6. I also drive a Jaguar XK convertible and am an enthusiast for the classic Lotus Elan.

All the best, Tim.

Not too many of the i6 model in the UK. Only 500 I believe.
Just 4 on eBay at the moment.

Bom dia.

HI and welcome,
Sorry I can not help, but your best bet would be to restart this query under the Technical section,
as not everyone looks in this one. DAVE.

Hi, Hi hope you have taken photo's, so you can write them up
in a know how thread, I'm sure as our motors get older there will be
more enquiries on rebuilding the engine. Thumbs Up DAVE.

Hi,

I'm Will, from North Wales.

I originally had a 2010 Fl2 HSE back in 2014, and now after a career change, in the market for another one. Looking about 2011/2012 and ideally relatively low mileage.

Lots of questions to ask on what to look out for. But first a good search of the forum as I imagine these questions have all come up before.

Cheers in advance.

Will

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Fuji White

Hi, I joined on 1st Oct, I have a Fl2 HSE Lux 2013 73k in Fuji white.Black leather interior, with all the bells and whistles. Both me and the wife think the car is great, I've had loads in my 57 years of driving from Bond Minis to A 33Ft RV!
I used to do most work myself , but A disability now prevents this, so I was wondering if there is anyone nearby (Preston, Lancs) who could help with replacing the discs and pads for me or do I just take it to a garage. It is really a preventative measure as we have bought a twin axle caravan and want to make sure everything will be safe. It does screech a bit on braking so better safe than sorry.
cheers, Dave Thumbs Up

welcome all the madhouse

ref changing brakes and pads - any garage can do these as they are normal set ups so shouldnt be an issue, just make sure they parts of decent quality.
If your garage lets you, provide your own, Advanced Factors are a site sponsor here and have an excellent reputation.

United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Buckingham Blue

Hi all,
Just got around to joining after using this superb forum recently. I bought a 2012 FL2 GS 2.2 Diesel about a year ago. It is high mileage - about 185K - but had one owner from new and full service history. It runs very clean for the age. Although it came with half a farmer’s field inside. Already had to replace clutch and two tyres but hopefully not too much else to go wrong for a while!

I decided to upgrade the High Line Alpine audio recently and used the excellent info here to help. Got a second-hand XF amp off an auction site. Added extra speakers and all working well - full surround sound. Updating the CCF was a bit of a faff but got there in the end. Now just need to sort the DAB which doesn’t want to work and I’ll be happy!

Anyway, look forward to tracking updates on here.
