The really weird thing driving them was that although the Marina 1800 was MUCH faster than the Dolomite 1500 auto, people would see the Triumph coming up behind them and get out of the way fast. The Marina would burn off most other cars (although I once had a no contest with a tiny Fiat Abarth on the A2) but people were always trying to overtake it in dangerous places - perhaps because no-one expected it to be able to move itself.

My "Dolly " was my first great car, tuned up, trick suspension and exhaust. Very Quick car in it's time. After the engine failure I slotted a new unit in for £50 from a breakers and sold it on.

I even had Zeibart on the underbody !!! Who remembers that !!

I used to work in a Triumph dealership in the 70's & remember that stuff well, goodness it could be sticky stuff when we had to fit tow-bars and aerials etc on a PDi ! Didn't stop the rot either !

Actually i used to like the Dolly's and the Stags & TR6's but they were all hassle !
