Mine was the same.
Cleaned it with engine part cleaner, 2 years later now and still going strong.  |

Check the turbo hoses for any splits, normally the one just under throttle body tends to fail.
Also might be worth giving some injector cleaner a try. |

There are a couple of posts on here about split inter-cooler hoses, might be worth checking as well. Common one to check is the hose under the throttle body.

At the time I was looking to replace the hoses between the turbo and inter-cooler as they had splits on the inside.
The OEM parts for this was around £185 here in SA.

I bought both sets of hoses from DPH for my Freely. Took about 3 hours to install, and added injector cleaner to the tank.
Huge difference in performance and MPG.
