Throttle body oil bath??

My throttle body has been leaking oil for a little while so I removed it today it seemed pretty clean inside, a quick wipe down and put it back on.
Gave it a test drive and still leaking from the gear wheel casing, so I removed it again and prised off the cover only to find about 30ml of oil in it Shocked
I have cleaned it all out and replaced the cover and put the throttle body back on.

I guess there shouldn't be that much oil in there? Anyone know how it's getting in?

Did you replace it?
I guess the oil is getting in through the butterfly flap pivot ? 2007 hse auto

It's worth keeping the old one since the usual failure of these things is the stripping of the plastic gears. Looks like you have a spare set there. Very Happy 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Mine was the same.
Cleaned it with engine part cleaner, 2 years later now and still going strong. Thumbs Up

I cleaned up the throttle body and put it back on and after a couple of days it starting dripping oil again
So I have replaced it with a new one. It's now much quicker to shut down and no oil leak Smile

Pretty straight forward to replace 2007 hse auto

maybe you have to investigate why a large amount of oil is in your intake duct...imho changing the TB isn't the solution but sounds like "to sweep it under the carpet"

I would love to know where it's coming from, any Ideas?

Thing is I don't get any smoke out the exhaust and minimal oil loss
My next job is to remove the intercooler and clean that out and check all of the hoses 2007 hse auto

I did all that to mine,my brother had the intercooler cleaned at his work and the hoses only a small amount of oil in no more than you would expect.

my 2 cents...

1.oil level just a little over the max level -> more oil vapour to PCV -> more oil in intake
2.leak from the turbocharger
3.oil out of specifications

Smile

in my experience, the most probable scenario is the #1 and #3 Wink
