This mod is DIY for pre facelift (before mid 2010); I've run mine now for one year with EGR blank and two stroke.
You don't need any software mod.
.
Kind regards from Fred

My only extra comment is to reccomend gasket sealer. I missed that and have a minuscule oil mark at the joint.

ive got an egr blanking plate ready for a mate to fit it for me. Hes a mechanic for Skoda but I would still like to know exactly where the EGR is under the bonnet so pictures would be good to see for the location.

The EGR valve is located at the back of the engine (as you look at it) above the exhaust manifold, but the blanking plate is fitted where the pipe from the EGR joins the inlet manifold, as shown in the image below. Once the engine cover is off it's easily accessible and very easy to fit the blanking plate. N.B. The pipe is rigid, so slacken off the bolt half way along to make it easier to separate the pipe from the inlet manifold.

Old thread but thought I would add that you need to remove the MAP sensor when installing the EGR blanking plate. But that is very easy to do...just one bolt.
Did this today after cleaning out the manifold and removing the swirl flaps. Runs well so far, but will report if that changes. Blanked it to reduce carbon build up, but now its all clean, I reckon it carbon will take a long time to build up again, so I'll be removing it if there is a hint of trouble.

Fitted plate to 2010 FL2 2.2 TD with 170k on the clock. No immediate difference. Been in place for 15k and no adverse side effects. I just hope that the systems has had time to clear out all that crap from the induction system.

Had an MOT and it passed the emissions test (readings to low to register).
