Which ever one suits is fine by me. May is a clear months for me. You said there were two PH's to maybe avoid?

Next will be venue, let us know the rough area and I can book a hotel and then it's all sorted'ish.

for those who want to be abit more adventurous i found this on Disco3, but you would need to check if they are open and your car is suitable to drive over

you forgot Shoot the Scotsman with a bow and arrow Twisted Evil (still legal in York i believe due to local bylaw)

For a start point, as said previously, large car park, maybe Windermere or Coniston what would be suitable for 20 FL2 for a photo or two

or meet at Eskdales Campsite (i believe at Eskdale on the west side of hardnott pass) drive east over the passes, towards chosen lake for BBQ or pub

Nice one, but only if your giving me a head start of 30 seconds and stay in the caravan, eyes closed and counting!

As I remember York was 'sacked' by Robert the Bruce, so no wonder they have an old bye-law.

I might have to be nice to people now, I mean I don't want them to get the wrong impression and then meet them in the Lakes, on the other hand......

Yep, location also good for me. Maybe see what the others say before booking the Hotel.

The campsite looks good to me. I think its quite a good location.
For those who do not fancy camping, you could try The Gatehouse - B&B http://www.visitcumbria.com/wc/gatehouse.htm

We stayed there for a weekend while we climbed up Scafell Pike in Nov '08 and thought it was quite good. Not 5 star luxury but that was not our expectation. They served us a wonderful breakfast in the morning which I would recommend.

17 others to have some say too

if the locals could think up good pubs or spots to do a BBQ

I thought about Rayrigg Meadows just up the road from Bowness, large pay & display carpark, with smelly toilets, short walk down to lake Windermere, and had wooden benchs BBQ spots and a couple of pontoons to moore boats on, swim from etc the last time I was there

Only thinking of this as i used to waterski and jetski from there quite a few years ago (until some Censored lowered the speed limit on the last lake in england best not get me started on that Evil or Very Mad ) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
