If you press and hold both the door lock and unlock buttons for a few second, it opens the boot

If you press the start button and hold for a few seconds (without pressing the clutch down) just the ignition comes on so you can listen to the radio without the engine running.

I didn't notice any power reduction on my way home from York the other day.

How much power do you think you need to travel at 33 mph? Wink Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

That was me taking it easy into the Tesco Filling station forecourt Laughing

To my horror they only had one pump for diesel, all the rest were not in use

I thought I was going to have to zero fuel all the way to the other end of town to try another petrol station Bow down Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

dangerous

Living dangerously there Npinks! I've found the useful "range" function is not 100% accurate, so running it down to zero was risk indeed! Shocked

I think running out of fuel in a modern diesel can be more than an inconvenience!

When i started the journey I had more than enough miles, then they just disappeared had no choice but to keep going along the motorway,

It was a little bit of an Ohhh S Censored t moment

I wouldn't mind I had a quarter tank when it went to the dealers, and because there bodyshop is off site they used they fuel taking it there and back. Shocked

Saying that the gave the car a full valet and polish and it looked like the day i got it Thumbs Up so that was worth the fuel in it self.

Now i could also have filled up at the BP garage opposite the dealer, but they wanted £1.10 whereas my local Tesco store is £1.08 and i got clubcard points too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Do a constant 74mph on cruise control at a 36.7mpg, then 13 miles of A/B/C grade roads without mpg changing. Return journey just the same. Has Emilys fuel consumption reading stuck or am I in for this type of mpg forever now she's done 8000 miles

Have you reset the trip computer in all your 8000 miles? As I understand it the longer the 'trip' the less sensitive it becomes to local variations in fuel consumption, and you are given the long-term average fuel consumption (simple maths). Incidentally, the trip readout only appears to go up to 999.9, although the calculations are done on the actual distance from the last reset.

How does the mpg computer work? Does it simply take a residual fuel reading on reset and subsequently take further residual fuel readings and compare with mileage?

As far as I know the mpg computer counts the actions of the injector pump and as it knows how much fuel per action it can calculate mpg. There is more to this than meets the eye due to injector leak off etc but it works this way rather than using a flow meter or gauging the tank

Mine is the same and I have the bog standard radio. It does switch itself off after 15 or 20 mins or so but another press of the radio knob brings it back on.

Pepper Pot Thanks for that but seeing my only vehicle malaises are annoying ie non start and trip reset it is not the natural flattening of the average plot though it certainly seems like it, maybe the trip reset only zeroes the read out.

Looking at the gauge photo coming back on thread there is an unnecesary arrow pointing to fuel flap side when I am sure all of you knew that the side of the pump which the pipe is printed on is the fuel filler side still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Whenever I reset mine the mpg initially fluctuates significantly, then gradually settles down as the averaging smooths out the variations, so it's not just the read out
