Personally, wouldn't touch a petrol mk1 with a barge-poll.
I advised a friend against it a few years ago, he ignored the advice - cost him £900 to fix the inevitable blown head gasket.

Yes, the 'code' will be non-volatile so doesn't rely on power to remember.
I'm interested to know if the 'one-time-program' feature is indeed the case.
Knowing the chipset might give some clues.

I bought a new battery from fleabay for £8.50

Haven't fitted yet but ...

I always assumed that you'd get a lower premium with it stored in a garage since it's less prone to being stolen?
Maybe they have different logic but I suspect it's more of a coding error with their ...

I was quoted a worse price for garaging my FL2 overnight than when I said it would be on my drive!!
