There are plenty of used Leafs and MG4's for sale under 17k and less than 15k miles if you just want a runabout, over 200 mile journeys in one hop think again. the greater the range the more the bank balance is hit. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I would be suspicious of a used MG.

We bought two MG3s about 2018, they have been cheap reliable transport. But both the satnavs had a millenium style bug that meant in April 2019 the date rolled back to 1999. Remember these cars were still well within warranty, we visited several dealership who all said "yes they all do that", as in every time to start the car the satnav will reset the date and time to 20 years in the past - still do.

The solution was either turn it off and have a blank screen, or rip it out. SIAC the manufacturer of MGs were just not interested.
There was a report a few years ago the some parts of the MG6 braking system were not available 2 years after production stopped, MG did not see any profit in continuing to supply parts for a car that they no longer made, forget the "parts must be available for 10 years" rubbish. European, Japanese and USA manufacturers signed up to a voluntary agreement, MG didn't. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

There's a R4 coming out soon, which is a 4 door, and there's a new Fiat Panda out too, again a 5 door.
Finally a whole load of good little EVs are coming to market.

We're still loving our Ioniq 5, although some T005er has run into the nearside rear quarter, which will now need to be repaired. Couldn't even be bothered to own up to the mistake, and drove off.

How is the parts situation for Kia and Hyundai these days ?

My FL2 insurance is likely to be less this year - Im told it is partly because the spare parts supply chain has improved. Jules

In my experience Hyundai parts prices can be a bit savage, car good and reliable, does what it says on the tin.

Here is a useful range simulator I found on the new Renault 4 website

https://www.renault.co.uk/electric-vehicle...#simulator

Driving the 100 miles up the M1 to visit my dad (92 and still looking after himself OK) and back the same day is impossible in winter without an expensive recharge stop somewhere as the range drops to 135 miles.
So, unfortunately, not a great replacement for the Fiesta.

Glad to see a manufacturer being honest about the range. Jules

That cold weather range drop is a bit extreme, ipace doesnt loose much range in winter, maybe the r4 has less sophisticted thermal management? At work

Just drive slower, but if you do want a quick top up, just visit a Tesla open to all charging location, and pay 1/2 what other COPs offer.
When traveling back from visiting family in Kent, I normally stop at Exeter Tesla, and put in about 10kWh, which is enough to get us home with a 10% contingency left in the battery.
You never want to put in more than you need at a fast changer, as you can fill up for buttons when you get home.

Our range drops by about 15% in winter compared to summer. The best temperature for an EV is about 20° C, where it's warm enough to not require heating, but not so hot that AC is needed. On those days, with gentle driving, our Ioniq 5 will exceed the WLTP range by about 15%, giving almost 350 miles. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

The R5 is actually a 4 door hatch with the rear door handles hidden - like on the Seat Leon Mk2.

Despite what I said above, about range issues, we've now gone down the R4 route - picking it up next week. Jules

Kia have an interesting EV People Carrier coming out in December.

It has plenty of space and is very reasonably priced, it also has a nice high driving position.

A Renault 4 or 5 will be the likely replacement for our current shopper , the Clio Alpine self charging hybrid . Running a hybrid car has been a gentle transition to understanding that electric can be a very viable proposition for our no2 car . The thing I like about Renault is that you buy a package , and the specifications are pretty good , no need to add extravagantly priced ‘ packs ‘. When we needed a replacement for the 14 year old Clio last year the 5 hadn’t hit the showrooms .

One thing you’ll have to do is forget everything you know about cars . We had a small issue with the cadence of the indicator clicks v the lights flashing .. it required 2 days of tests and software updates .

We’ve 4k miles on the car , I reckon I’ve driven 3/4 of those . With a gentle foot I can keep the car in EV mode for ages , it’s like a go cart and actually makes me smile ! I’m sure you’ll love the driving experience of the 4 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

It's not just a people carrier, it's available as a van, with a pickup, camper, and disability vehicle all planned over the next couple of years.

It should be a good vehicle, as Hyundai/Kia are the best in the business when it comes to EVs. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I wouldn't worry about the range myself. Range anxiety is something that we got over in less than a month of using an EV. The wife wasn't sure we could make an EV work for us as an everyday vehicle, but now she won't drive her Audi, saying it's too old fashioned and slow.

We're looking for another EV to replace the Audi ASAP. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
