United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Firenze Red

Its that time of year again.

Current insurers Aviva put my renewal up 54% to £288 Shocked - impossible to find a way on their website to speak to a person to try and haggle.
Gave up and did the usual multiple searches - Go- Compare, Meerkats and Confused.

Best deal was Halifax at £198 - with same cover ; fully comp, protected NCD , Legal cover , courtesy car, full windscreen ,total excess £475. Dont need breakdown cover (as covered from elsewhere).

Thats with SPD only,, 5k miles, 12 yrs NCD , no claims/convictions, 2 drivers both 64, in rural Warwickshire. Jules

Something to check for on insurance, if you have sunroof, is whether it is covered. Most companies don't cover sunroof on glass cover. Even if insurance won't repair due to cost you'll at least get write off payout. ££££ to replace. Andy

Interesting - One of the reasons that I bought a SE Tech was that it didn't have a sun roof.
As I very rarely opened them on my previous cars that had one and I was intending to keep the FL2 for as long as possible and wanted the least potential for component failure, I deemed a sunroof an unnecessary liability.

Problems so far after 8 years, 65K miles:
Door latch failure - hours of dismantling the door to replace 2 motors costing £8
Haldex pump failure - Bell Engineering diagnosed that one.
NS front wheel bearing - Bell Engineering diagnosed that one at same time as above - originally thought to be PTU failure but wasnt
Tailgate latch - easy fix
Rear brake shoe (just one) lost all friction material due to rust
Key fob - fell apart - easy cheap fix

So not too bad so far Jules
