My handbrake bit me

My electric handbrake switch has decided to bite me.
The metal covering the lift up switch is peeling off leaving a razor sharp edge which has sliced my middle finger 🤬
Has anyone else experienced this? Guess I just need to peel it all off, presumably leaving a black plastic switch, wonder if the stick on bit is available separately?

Noticed this on mine a few weeks back, just a little rough at one point, not yet a razor sharp edge

Had this happening on my last car - it was a right pain.
Fortunately the present car's switch is holding up well.

Not a handbrake switch - as mine's a lowly 2007 MY. But I did slice a finger on the silver dash vent levers after the "chrome" started to delaminate. Razor sharp !

I had this problem a little while ago. I peeled off all the loose material and covered it with some self adhesive chrome effect vinyl I had in the shed. Fiddly to do but looks OK I think. FYI the switch is made from a cream coloured plastic, not Black.

Yeah peeled my foil off leaving a white plastic switch which looks s bit naff but won't injure me , might re do with silver sticky foil, what type did you use? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Try some carbon fibre "vinyl" wrap and use a blow dryer to shrink it on after install.

£62 for another 8-10 years of service? It would be my choice. Thumbs Up

And what's involved in removing the centre console to replace the switch. Very happy with my solution, and I doubt anyone would ever spot the difference. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep
