being 65, I got my NHS letter giving me a couple of choices regarding the vaccine, bearing in mind I am based in Durham

1) attend one of four places Washington (10 miles) Kendal (70 miles) Knaresborough (75 miles) or Brighton Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

2) OR, ignore this and wait for GP to contact.

Option 2 seems best as the place others are going to is 3 miles away ! 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

The only problem with waiting is that it feels like playing Russian roulette, we have no idea when this virus come knocking, or from which quarter.

Gills Mum had a similar invitation, and we took her 15 miles to get hers done within 4 days, 3 weeks later the surgery rang to say she could have her jab close too home. She was happier that we had taken the longer quicker route - it was my fuel and time Very Happy

My Mum rang from Spain to say if I went to the local sports centre where they were giving the jabs, and waited to the end of the day, then I could get a "spare" jab from one of the no-shows - all from Facebook.
Anyway a couple of weeks later Gill went to the local sports centre for her jab and asked about the "spare" jabs - well at least it gave the nurses a laugh. She also asked could she not give her jabs to our boys (35 & 38 ), apparently it doesn't quite work like that either Laughing
You have to remember she is staring down the barrel of a loaded gun, the cancer is progressing steadily now, and dying of Covid looks better than what is coming around the corner - every day you wake up thinking is this the last, and trying to make the most of what time you have left in the middle of lockdown. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

This is from our local surgery

Further clarification to support the video from Wychwood Surgery:
🩺The latest government direction on vaccination is for group 5 (those aged 65-69) to be directed to the mass vaccination centres to allow the surgeries to concentrate on vaccinating the much larger group 6 (those with medical conditions putting them at higher risk from covid).
🩺We understand the confusion this is causing and that there are those in group 5 who would much prefer to be vaccinated locally. However, it would help and support The Wychwood Surgery if all those in group 5 who can take up the offer of vaccination at the Kassam or other sites did so.
🩺Our current allocation of vaccination over the next 7-10 days is around half of what we would need to cover group 6 so unfortunately choosing to be vaccinated locally will lead to further delays in increasing the local level of vaccination and thus the overall safety within our community.
🩺There will be some for whom travel outside of the local area is impossible and if that is the case then please do contact the surgery and let us know and then we can add those people to the waiting list for local vaccination. Please don’t ring but email the Practice manager,

10 miles to go to get your vaccine seems completely reasonable (if not very good!) to me - I know I would happily drive that far or further when they get around to my age group Thumbs Up 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

I’m fortunate to have had mine a month ago but know my partner would go the 10 miles if it was offered; she’s only 54 so may a wait yet

..... that is because your GP is paid £10 per injection, by the government. They are cashing in by beating the 'alternative'.

Half way through watching the film Contagion. I somehow get the feeling that the Government used some of it as a template

My wife got her letter recently and we booked her in on line for both jabs at the local centre (10 minutes walk from home) which is being run by a local pharmacy.

When we got there they decided that as she is shielding and I am her only carer they would do me at the same time even though I was not booked in for it as yet. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black

Now a more contentious point - immunisation passports.

Lump it or like it they are coming, wouldn't you want the workers in your old Mums home to be suitably vaccinated?
Or your colleague working near you on the production line?
Or the person next to you on the aircraft?

It has got my disbeliever son in a right tizwas, looks like he is now going to have to get the jab as he is a driving instructor and there's noway pupils or examiners will get in his car without proof.

Me I'm waiting to go to USA and SA for work, can't imagine I would be allowed to fly without proof that I was vaccinated and certainly would want my fellow passengers to be likewise vaccinated.

And for those who think they are jollies, cattle class to SA, cheapest 3 star hotel the firm can find near to the industrial estate. travel to site, work, travel back, eat, sleep for weeks non-stop with the wife at home convinced you are having the time of your life without her. Maybe I shouldn't ring home drunk most nights? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Should the 'Passport' be a tattoo QR code, which would link back to a database.

behave

I absolutely dread needles - passed out waiting to give blood sample as I could see the syringes in the tray. What chance do you think I have of getting through a tattoo.

Was once booking into a hotel in Cambridge, it was so bad I decided to commute every day from Manchester by car.
Wouldn't be the first time that I have got back on the plane and handed my notice in.
Best one was some years ago one of the commissioning crew landed in Iran, for a 5 day job, they confiscated his passport and put him up in a "bungalow" with some other contractors, it was chicken or nothing, and it was Ramadan. He got home 6 weeks later a lot thinner. They wouldn't let him home until the kit was commissioned, the other suppliers wouldn't send the rest of the kit until they were paid. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
