2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I’ve just found this on an evoke forum, I’ve not heard of an ECU calibration to fix this issue before.

Would anyone know if this can be completed without going to the main dealer? MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

Apologies, I’ve just realised my last post didn’t have the link within it.

Here it is again ;

https://www.lro.com/reviews/range-rover-evoque-4x4-review

Read down to the engine summery, about a known summer issue.

There are currently about 5 or so different threads on this forum all trying to figure out this very annoying issue, none of them mention ECU calibration.

So this could be a new bit of hope. I will try and dig a little deeper. MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

DGL thanks for posting about ECU reprogram info has anyone had this done,

I have read on another post about tyres and tyre circumference upsetting the haldex and the info sent to the ECU.
When pulling away from standstill both front and rear axles are employed and once moving goes into front wheel drive.

I wonder if this miss fire/ hesitation occurs with ED4 Freelanders (2wd)

I also wonder if it could be a low battery voltage, if I dont turn off stop/start manual car it throws up a warning of Gearbox Fault Transmission Reduced

My tyres are all down to about 2.5 mm, I’ve managed to rotate them enough to balance the wear. Unfortunately that means a hefty tyre bill this autumn!

I also have a code reader, but as you say, this fault has never thrown up any codes which is very annoying.

My main dealer had absolutely no idea what I was talking about when I approached them, he just said they need tobook it in for a scan at £125 + per hour, so I’m keen not to use them unless I absolutely have no other choice.

I really want to investigate the Ecu recalibrate program, this seems logical.

I will also recondition the battery, as this problem has only appeared since the car sat idle during lockdown MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

I am going to post on the forum and ask the question about ED4`s to see if any suffer from the same problem.

My car also started with the fault after lock down so it may be battery related it didn't move for weeks
I know the Freelander is hungry for electrics power.

Austen at Bell serviced the Haldex last year (8k ago) new filter and oil

Also I don't think it misfires when pulling away with the caravan on the car, all land rover electrics on the bar so ECU knows a caravan on the back sending a message to the ECU. It tows the caravan 1700kg with ease

Sometimes pre fault the dashboard lighting dims a little when only for a second it may be when the Haldex is kicking in !

My son says its EGR valve but on tick over it runs a little lumpy I cant here this but my wife can and you real;y have to listen for it that tells me the EGR is opening and working
