Hi is there anyone out there with an ED4 freelander that suffers from a misfire or hesitation when moving off in 1st gear etc, it tends to be later models after 2011 so when ED4 was introduced

The reason for me asking is I have a 4wd FL2 suffering from this problem and think it may be related to the Haldex 4WD.

it is common with a lot of 4WD and not even Land Rover can solve it.

Why don't you remove the AWD module fuse and see if it's happening or not?...
But if it's hesitating when taking off in straight line, it's not the Haldex.
In this situation all wheels have the same speed and no matter if the Haldex is locked or not, the difference in rotational speed between axles is zero.

My bet is on something that it's variably commanded, like EGR or turbo.
Get a diagnostic tool capable of live reading values and see if the commanded/requested values are identical with the feedback values for the above.

Could it be down to tyres its needs new ones on the front ordered for Tues, they have ran down to 1.8mm on front and 6.mm on back will put news on the back and always have done.I know it a long shot !

Because the two are quite different. A misfire is a sudden/sharp stuff, when a hesitation is a slowly/soft thing...

Sorry for the confusion its a misfire just once then goes as normal

And it's happening on all styles of driving?
Meaning happens only when taking off in a sporty/WOT manner or also happens on a decent/granny style takeoff?

It happens with a granny take off if you boot it plenty of revs it is fine, had the caravan on last week did not misfire but it would normally get higher revs to pull off. When driving along normal no probs at all

No my revs do not drop on the rev counter once the 1st misfire has gone its fine and only in 1st gear when pulling away mine is manual though

If its granny driven it does it but if its boy racer it does not miss

80mph on motorway the rev counter sticks at 2000 rpm does not flicker.Picks up at 80 no misfire at all
Its like I Let the clutch out to quick and its going to stall, once you accelerate its fine and keeps pulling
