[img][/img]So i went to visit the Dealer on Monday morning, spoke about the confusing car part websites when i entered my Reg. number, showing either H7 (477) or HB3 for my vehicle (see my last post ).

The dealer couldn't tell me which one either but asked me for my reg and said that this will show the bulbs fitted at manufacture. They had one in stock, i studied the box, made in USA, no mention of either H7 or HB3 .

However on the invoice for £21.20 under description of goods, it states ... ELR044458 GP5A Bulb ...
and they said they can fit it ! Result. No faffing in the car park fixing it, i drove straight to the coast with the Mrs for a pleasant two nights away in Whitby.

So if it happens again ( hopefully not that bulb ) i will use the dealer, after all its a quality product despite what the knockers say.

I am sure the type of bulb is moulded on the front crystal (plastic cover) of the lamp assembly for all to see, right at the bottom in small letters, is on mine....for sure. Regards

I do not have the later type bulbs but when driving in the dark i do notice that the voltage to the lamp does seem to fluctuate - the light output noticeably increases and decreases. At first I thought that it was the differing road surface reflection but it is not. Do not know if this is down to alternator output varying or FET switching properties. Did try Powerbreakers but didn't last long so have settled on cheap blue tinted bulbs which seem to last forever. Silver 2009 HSE
