Headlight bulbs keep going!!!!

My car is 2 years old so I have the same bulbs / light as the Evogue ie 9005's in Halfrauds (bought Osram and Bosch).. but the things still keep on going about every 4 months. It's been like this from about 9 months old and its driving me mad! LR dealer cant find anything wrong....
Any thoughts on the issue?.. usualy I'd look for a bad earth but its all black wire in there so not sure where the eath is.. anyone else had this?.. I was told by another dealer that some Evogues had resistor leads fitter to stop this happening???.. Thanks

Are you driving around with them on all the time as daylight running lights?
or is the auto function keeping them on when they shouldnt really need to be on?

Hours life soon adds up if they are on all the time youre driving?.

I wondered also if higher power/wattage bulbs are fitted into the latest housing where the bulb is in the golf ball type lens whether its too a confined space and the bulb overheats quicker than say if fitted in the early type of halogen unit where theres more air around the bulb??

I tried Halfords. Lasted less than 12 hours! Found Bosch to be the best so far. But what's the problem? May try WD40 on the multi connector?

Some times if the bulb is just a little loose it can get shaken around whilst driving, this can cause the hot light filament to snap.

Check that the bulb is seated securely and not able to get vibrated.

I used to have a Alfa GT which was forever blowing bulbs - and they are a real pain to replace - an Alfa specialist suggested using a small blob of blutack to help stop the bulb moving around and this fixed the problem.

are the bulbs exploding or just blowing ?

if they are exploding / shattering just go back to standard LR / Philips bulbs as the Halfords ones seem to be too long and the dip mechanism is probably fouling and hitting the bulb causing it to explode

Try wearing cotton gloves when changing the bulbs or not touching the glass at all.
Any oil from your hands will cause hot spots and premature bulb failure.

This is the problem I see when most people have changed their own bulbs.

I've never touched the bulb at all. You don't have to. You hold them by the back and twist them in to seal. Job done..... Then a few weeks later.... Pop.... Glass always ok. Just the element that goes. 😊

If it's only a matter of weeks then something else could be going on, try getting into the habit of manually turning off your lights and turning them on 'after' the engine has started, when the auto light position is selected you press start the lights come on, then the engine starts and the lights flicker with the strange voltages going to them, this will not do them any good at all and may be the cause of your issues. It's worth a try, I do it all the time, never use auto.

Failing that get the voltage checked coming off the alternator, if it's high then that will have the same effect.

Just a suggestion, as it is very hard not to touch a bulb when unpacking and fitting.
Possibly try a different supplier like eurocarparts instead of Halfords/bosch.

I've had osram night breakers in for two years now however I only do 10,000 miles a year

2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Loire Blue

Ive had my 2014 Freelander for just over a year now, excellent motor absolutely no trouble.

Took it down to Halfords this morning to replace the blown headlight bulb which went yesterday, to be told that Halfords no longer fit the H7 bulbs due to some miss match of current / voltage with the Freelander as some bulbs only lasted a few weeks.

They sell the H7 but its their policy now not to fit them in LR F2 , he suggested i pick one up from the dealer. Big Cry
