Do you think a few fluid ounces of instant shudder fix (Dr Tranny) could be the potion we have been all waiting for. If so is it just a matter of adding 1 or 2 tubes via the fill plug on the top of the auto gearbox.

I doubt that...

Does the FL2 have any balanced parts in the transmission, which can alter over time, or be put back on without rebalancing?

Also along the same lines, is there anywhere that can trap debris and/or dirt and cause parts to become unbalanced?

And, because of the speed quoted, do tyres collect debris inside, and give wheel unbalance as the muck moves around?

Looking at the comprehensive list that some people have changed/ checked, it must be something really odd.

As a matter of interest, my own FL2, which is reasonably quiet, does have a body resonant period around 1100 - 1200 rpm, which is luckily outside normal driven engine speeds. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I’ve tried dr tranny ( the additive that is ) no difference at all . Missed it of my list.

My problem was solved today with a flush and renewal of the auto transmission fluid. Transmission specialist diagnosed slippage of the lock-up mechanism in the torque convertor.
Major shudder of the whole vehicle between 1400 and 1800 RPM under load in any gear is now gone!

Has anyone had all 4 wheels balanced on the car (I.e takes into account hubs and drive shafts etc;) carried out, being a 4x4 it's not easy to find someone who can do this I have come across a company called Vibration Free they are according to their web site specialist in vibration analysis and dynamic balancing. They are a good distance from me just wondered if any one nearer had tried them.

The car is a Tiguan, but if you look you will see

A rotational vibration absorber is permanently attached to the rear flexible disk joint and cannot be serviced separately. It reduces the transfer of engine vibrations through the rear axle differential to the body.


Could this be the source of the mysterious transmission/engine vibration?

There is no reason why a noise or vibration or harshness cannot be correctly diagnosed but it may mean going to a specialist.

Pico make an NVH tool which is a Noise Vibration harshness sensor. It takes some time to calibrate as many factors have to be inputted but the results are right first time diagnosis.

Included in the calculation are diameter of engine pulleys and engine speeds/ even gearbox ratios etc but then the sensor cross checks the values. Brilliant equipment without getting dirty.

Hi, my was fixed by blinding the EGR AND cleaning the crankshaft position sensor.

And this is the annoying thing about it.....today, for no reason that I can fathom, the wobble was not there!!!????!!!
No matter what I did I couldn't get it to do it?
Which then brings the engine back into the frame? Poor fueling/air mix?
I think I'm going to buy a cheap 'plug in' chip to make it overfuel just to see????
Can't get in to Bell Engineering any time soon as they don't work on vehicles on a Friday and thats the only day I could get there at the moment....
