England 2007 LR2 TD4 GS Manual Tambora Flame
re call

Hello , A bit of info on the so called recall.I took my lr2 into my dealers the other day with the re call note from land rover and ask them again to explain it .They said now its official and the note gave them more info than they allready had ?.They would do it there and then,it took 20 minuets all they did was take the fuse out from the pre heater. Now with winter coming up and no pre cabin heat on a 26000 pound car we have to wait according to the letter till 2009 somtime to get a part to fix it.i think we ought to get some compo for this any ideas on this problem. Big Cry I have a LR2GS with privacy glass and winter pack

The recall is now official as it is now on the VOSA website as follows:-

Build End Date : 23/05/2008

Vehicle Id : SALFA27B47H000100 to SALFA24C48H111695

Hmm, mine was first registered in Sep/07, but the vehicle ID is SALFA27B28xxxxxxx, so I can only assume that it was built before Feb/07 and parked up in a field for a few months? If I go on the vehicle ID, I guess I don't have to worry.

Although still a mild sunny autumn in Norway, the snow and minus degrees are not far away, but thankfully no recall as yet. Maybe the Norwegian models wont need the modification unless one catches fire first Rolling with laughter Big Cry - Then there will be a big blurb in the newspapers of how crappy British cars are Shocked which is typical of the motoring press here Rolling Eyes 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Ignore the date. if your vehicle VIN was in the affected build range, get it seen to...

My build was June 08 and chassis number is after the range in the recall. Before this came out I had my gear cables lubricated (1hr while-I-wait job) on 3rd Oct and mentioned the recall after which my car was put briefly back into the workshop for the fuse to be removed.

What happened to change things after VIN 111695?

I have now contacted dealer and they confirmed that mine is not affected and I can have the fuse put back when I am next passing. Wonder if I should?

I've just talked to LR customer support becuase I was not convinced that the problem had been fixed if parts were not available to support the recall.

They confirmed that mine is not affected and that modified parts were fitted to production cars after 23 May. I then queried the delay in getting affected cars recitified and the answer given was that they need to build up sufficient stocks of replacement parts (in addition to production requirements) so that all vehicles in use can be retrofitted and nobody appears to be getting preferential treatment.

Sounds like a reasonable story if they really need to build up an additional 111,595 parts on top of current production.

I'm not rushing to make a special trip to the dealer as I have not noticed any loss of heater performance since the fuse was removed.

I have SALFA28 .. and has received the letter, is a little confused over the number in the VIN number, that has significance in this context.
Is the number that's after H (the last 6 figures) I shall look at (= 037500)? LR Freelander2 2,2 Td4 HSE manuel Stornaway Grey (Metallic) & Ebony Black Leather & Sun/Moon-roof & Bi-Xenon & Roof Rails & Tow bar & Body side rubbing strips & Cold climate pack & Privacy glass & NavTeq . I had to look into this subject a few months ago for work....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_identification_number

Digit 10 is the model year, the last 6 are a sequential build number.

Yours was built in 2008, if the XXXXX number you've covered up falls after 111695 then your fine, if not then it needs attention. 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky
TT Quattro, black. Ers.
AC Cobra rep in build. Ars.
