Sat Nav - Upgrade Error

Hi folks.

I put a new DVD from navteq in my Freelander 2 2008. It ask me to update the system - and talks about a 15 minutes wait time.

I put the DVD and wait the time - including extratime, I wait for 1 hour.

After this, the "Navigation" button disappear from my screen.

What can I do ? Can I reset the system ?

CTL + ALT + DEL - opps wrong system

maybe call dealer - did you shut the LR off and let sit a bit? Take the key fob out too so 'act' like you left it alone...

the dealer once said the first thing they try is a hard reset of the car

Disconnect both battery connectors and hold them together for 30 seconds, then reconnect them and wait a few minutes whilst the cars system reboots.

Isn't it funny in this, the 21st century, the amount of hardware/software problems that can be solved by 'turning it off and on again' , sorry, I mean rebooting Whistle

Thanks for the replies.

I will try rebooting (put the battery off ) during this weekend - the LR2 is my wife car. I will post some photos of the GPS without the button.

I cannot go to the dealer because the Land Rover do not guarantee the navigation system... Yeah... They sell a car with a nice clock in the central panel... This is how things work here in Brazil!

I have a BMW 130i too, with iDrive and Business Navigation that also do not have support from the dealer.

And both brands (Land Rover and BMW) has official presence here.

Well, this last weekend I try resetting the nav pulling off the negative battery cable.

It do not work. The navigation button stills do not appear.

I'm trying now to contact the navteq.

Any news I will post here.

Looking at the Navteq website, they do not appear to have maps for Brazil Question

Where are you based Question if its Brazil what map have you gone for Question I find it strange that LR say they don't cover the satnav, its part of the car which should have 3 years cover

Have you spoken to Land Rover themselves on the phone or by email Question Or Navteq Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Have anybody purchased an update from Navteq and if so how did it work. Was there and upgrade that was required?
Am on the point of ordering the SA 2008 / 2009 DVD but want to be sure it will work.
Thanks

Hi guys.

Sorry for my delay in replies, but I was travelling last month.

For you guys understand the problem, the Land Rover here gives me technical assistance only for the screen : if it turn on or not. They do not give technical assistance to the items displayed in the screen (even the clock!).

I will put 3 images here. The first one is how is my menu. The navigation button "disappear" :

The second shows the preferences menu. It is fine - with all the previous options :

The last one shows the "screensaver"with clock - the only function that I have with this navigation system :

Any ideas ?

Thank you.[/img]

Have you tried to see if you can get into the diagnostics screen like on the other post http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic1972.html

Not sure if you'll be able to or not.

Just a thought, but have you either removed or left in your DVD?

Have you tried at having the new DVD, old DVD and no dvd in the drive after doing a proper reboot of the car, by removing the battery?

I wonder where the main navigation unit is, and if you could disconnect it, maybe even for a couple of days, then re-connect it, and see if that helps to wipe any residuale memory.

Or if there are any extra buttons on the main unit, that you could press while rebooting the unit?

I'm clutching at straws, but I guess if you can't make it any worse than not having sat-nav.

I wonder who actually manufactures the sat-nav unit, and if they would provide any support directly?

Hope you get it sorted.

Rich

Wonder if you could be right, I bet that the system running the screen is a seperate system to the nav one. And if it doesn't get a response from the nav system, then it doesn't show the button. The only problem with my theory, is that if the update has broken the nav unit, it would have the same symptons though.
