Diluting the lr brand by tata.

Rumour that fl2 being made with 2wd. Cost approx 3k less than normal 4wd. Tappin in to the yummy brigade who never go off road. Would a soft roader hurt the lr brand? Live your life be free-lander

2wd, wow that's going to start a debate as LR = 4x4. Everybody else has done it so why not LR.....if it means they reach a wider audience and sell more cars then maybe it's a yes...but I'm still not sure Neutral

To keep with the compotition it could be a wise move

my brother has an XC60 Ecodrive with low resistance tyres for higher MPG with it been 2wd

so you could poach people like him, as long as it didn't ruin the brand reputation for been able to go places unlike his Volvo which could even move on a flat snow covered carpark Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

Possibly so long as there was a visual difference between the 2WD & 4WD versions to avoid brand embarrasment when the 2WD won't work in the snow or on wet grass etc like the BMW-X6.... (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Terrible news, Big Cry
The reletive cheapness of the Fl2 already dilutes L/R as a PREMIUM BRAND.
A sub 18k 2wd 'S' will kill the prestige of a 33k HSE

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

The LRX will probably be offered as a two-wheely alternative, as it is looks to be only a up market crossover Confused

Dont see the current Freelander as a two-wheel drive as it will totaly destroy the Land Rover image and would be as bad as a Disco or even Range Rover Sport 2-wheel drive Shocked 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I would say leave the lower end to other brands like Toyota or TATA really, but certainly no LR in 2 wheel only config. LR should remain as a premium brand. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto
