Good point jutrem, If they must-Make a Tata 2wd, using a freelander shell and running gear but with a different grill and badge etc. Like they do with vans-Merc spinter/VW & Fiat/peugeot etc. etc.

Switchable 2wd/4wd like the X-trail or the Sorento would work, but to just go 2wd would be brand suicide. Trouble with switchable is it doesn't reduce the cost, just the co2/running costs.

In the depths of time that man as forgotten LR built some 2 wheel drives for a foreign government contract, no prizes for correct answer but what turns comes around again. They where not fitted with the Fairey freewheel hubs which many of you have posted about though never line fit but the real thing with the deletion of prop & drive shafts. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Don't forget that the FL2 is 95% 2WD, automatically and seamlessly varying the drive to the rear wheels as and when needed clever LandRover
