England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I think the only thing I would prefer different on my 2010MY auto would be to have the 'D' / 'N' / 'S' displayed in the bigger box on the dash rather than in the small lettering, but not high on my to do list

want to make some more cosmetic mods first Laughing (after ive got the new brakes all round)

Brilliant thread mate - a great read.
So, is it safe to say that even though i'm fairly friendly with the Sydney St Leonards service centre (JLR is a client), they wouldn't be able to activate the following:

    Timed Climate
    Cruise ECO Data
    Follow Me Home Reverse
    Extra Features Menu

I asked them to 'update my system' a few months ago as I noticed i didn't have the trailer, backup proximiatey features - they did that with no fuss at all.

There is a LOT of work going on in the background here...

OK so after this weeks "investigations" we are ready to try the following;

4x4i information and Terrain response display on the touchscreen
InControl Apps (it'll show but won't function without the extra module)
DVD video picture showing on the move
Navigation entry via touchscreen, on the move.
Playing .avi video from a USB stick, on the move.

Some of these are simply not available in the Freelander 2, we've had to "borrow" them from the Evoque... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

The current "solutions" available are a little black box which is a CANBus filter, and it blocks the ICE module from getting CANBus data about the speed of the car, so the picture doesn't get hidden when the car is moving.

There is another way to do it via software settings alone, has been tested and proven on some Jags, now to test on a Land Rover. Wink 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Connect and View - InControl Apps Land Rover

After digesting the information from the vehicle scan and researching a little more I need to make a correction! Laughing
It seems that we have stumbled onto the CCF field for InControl Apps Land Rover which is the "Connect and View" field.
So this doesn't look like the field for "Rear camera on the move"!
As I said earlier, there's no instruction book here and we are dealing with a large mass of information.
So it appears we have identifies the CCF field for activating "InControl Apps" and have the Hex/Block/Byte/Bit location.
Should be able to activate this but it does require a "communication" module which I have just found, but is very expensive. So I think this could be my future project Laughing MY15

InControl Apps

Shortly Cambo and I will be trying to enable the LR InControl Apps, along with a couple of other features. It dawned on me the other night that there should be an "Application" listing with a status of "Uninitialised" so I went in the search, more for wanting proof that the firmware existed in the Gen 2.1 HDD in the Freelander.
Well, I think I found it - "Accessory Phone" which is uninitialised and as all the other phone applications were either active or related to RSE this must be it.

InControl Apps was never available in the Freelander 2 but as the Gen 2.1 HDD is common between the late Freelander 2, Evoque, RRS and Meridian equipped DS there is no reason it can't have this functionality.

DS Microcat, for this example (FL2, Evoque, RRS, DS run same system) also clearly shows the same Meridian/Infotainment system so really it's a question of enabling InControl Apps platform and if it doesn't then loading firmware but looks to already exist.

DVD/TV/USB on the move

We now have found out how to enable DVD/TV/USB on the move by a CCF edit, no CAN disruption/block box required!
This was more of an opportunity we stumbled across to learn more about the CCF and how it works. In fact this was a great teaching experience for me and a few others as we all have varying degrees of understanding so it's been a great exercise to advance knowledge.
This also means that we have more knowledge on how to enable other features which we will share soon and has shed some light on a few that are eluding us! Laughing MY15

Hi Everyone

My name is Patrick and I am part of the team here at GAP Diagnostic.

Glad to see development on the various CCF settings and their effects on the Freelander 2. Always a good thing when people share their findings with the community. This type of CCF fiddling is well documented on D3s and D4s but unfortunately a lot less on the later FL2 and Evoque.

Quote:
I don't think the IID can do this on a 2014 model.
Checking their website they only list a few CCF fields available to edit;

Daytime Running Lamps
FBH Call Start
Fuel Burning Heater
Second display units
Timed Climate

At the moment it seems there is no aftermarket diagnostic tool that is able to fully edit the CCF in a 2013-2015 model. IID is limited as above, and the Nanocom is only supporting up to 2012 models.

Just a few clarifications if I may. We’ve designed the tool with the user in mind and a big part of this is preventing unsafe usage. Changing any CCF settings without knowing the outcome is a little risky therefore we have divided access into two categories:

-Tested settings. This will show settings which were tested by us or at least one user and proven to have a positive effect.
-Untested settings. This will give access to the complete CCF file.

Access to the complete CCF is granted upon request only to prevent accidental changes.

Here’s a little video showing how easy it is to change any setting using the complete CCF access and search feature on a 2014 FL2.

On our website, only tested settings are visible when consulting the functionality list. Showing the whole CCF would be false advertising since most of it isn’t even used by Land Rover (lots of settings related to Ford vehicles). We have, however, added a note that full CCF access is available upon request.

Cheers

Hello Pat,

It's always nice to have a manufacturer on board but i'm afraid that in these circumstances it's a little awkward.

To be blunt there are many of us on this forum (and also many people behind the scenes) who've invested a lot of time and money into improving our cars, pioneering CCF editing and retrofitting missing factory options.

We get some internet fame and we improve our cars. Occasionally we do the same things on other peoples cars in exchange for pocket money or beer/whiskey (mostly the latter). On the other hand if GAP can expand their "tested settings", then this helps you sell more IID tools. We've developed the know-how, but you profit from it in selling your products? That's not cool...

Stuart & myself (and two other guys working in the background, one software engineer, one ex-JLR technician) have invested hundreds of hours in our research & testing on the FL2, plus the costs incurred.

I'm not intending to be rude here, but you must understand from our point of view, the difference between us helping out a forum member, a vehicle owner, vs. helping out a company which will profit selling products on the back of our hard work.

Tested by you or one of your users? Or someone else?

This request from JimNI hurts my feelings: "Patrick at GAP is currently working on this for me to Beta on my wife's Evoque. Cameron/Stuart can you provide a list of settings that are available for ICE so i can pass on to Pat?"

There are close to two-dozen features or retrofits we've done on the FL2 which would look great on your "tested" list, but we're not going to share them, actually we wouldn't even sell them. And some of them wouldn't even be possible with the IID anyhow, without us giving away the customised files that we've paid to have created.

We won't be giving away something that other people can/will sell. That's going too far.

This news comes a bit late for some people. If you'd been at the pointy end of this 6 months ago it would be a different story. But now that someone else has done the development, you're ready to promote it yourself? It doesn't sit well with us.

No hard feelings Pat, I do actually like what I've seen of your products, they are nice, much more user-friendly than SDD. But i'm not going to help you sell them. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
