I bet this is something the dealers would rather we didnt know about?

It's a bit more than just pressing a button though.

The tools needed to make these changes are not cheap, and you need to know what you're doing otherwise the car can be a rather expensive paperweight.

Yes I think this is one of those things dealers will be unhappy about, especially since they are not allowed to "turn it on" themselves. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Trust me it's not that easy and there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes that a lot of you guys probably don't realise.
Saying this I'm also being very cautious and thorough.
Yes a couple of things have been easy enabled but there are others we are having to work on as they are not an obvious enable field or fields.
Just to give you an idea of the scope I did a "rough" calculation today and we are looking at over 800 lines of data. That is only block 1 & 2 of a possible 5 block CCF file!
Saying this I'm sure our persistence will reward in the end. MY15

I don't think the IID can do this on a 2014 model.
Checking their website they only list a few CCF fields available to edit;

Daytime Running Lamps
FBH Call Start
Fuel Burning Heater
Second display units
Timed Climate

At the moment it seems there is no aftermarket diagnostic tool that is able to fully edit the CCF in a 2013-2015 model. IID is limited as above, and the Nanocom is only supporting up to 2012 models.

Patrick at GAP is currently working on this for me to Beta on my wife's Evoque. Cameron/Stuart can you provide a list of settings that are available for ICE so i can pass on to Pat?
Cameron - as you found part numbers for harness' for your DAB retrofit, can you have a look to see if there is a harness for GPS aerial retrofit for Evoque. Oh and possibly same for TV aerial. Thanks 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Learning weird and wonderful things buried in my CCF.
Latest thing I've stumbled upon is this field " Follow Me Home Reverse".
After a little research on the internet it made sense.
Similar to the front light delay or operated from the key fob, this feature does the same with the reverse lights.
Apparently 1 push to operate from headlights and second push operates reverse lights, 3rd to turn all off.
Currently mine is disabled so will "enable" and let you know if it works.
This is the way it's unfolding at the moment Laughing

DONE!

First press of key fob.....front only

Second press of key fob..... Front and reverse

Third press to extinguish all or leave for preset delay in vehicle setup menu in driver configuration screen.

Nothing really comes to mind at the moment but I'll keep an eye out as I'm always stumbling across new fields.
Picking the correct Terrain Reposnse mode already does this though. MY15

"Lazy Entry"

Next feature I'm going to try and activate is "Lazy Entry"
Not to be confused with "Easy entry/exit"

This should be selectable through the "vehicle setup" menu above in the driver configuration screen when activated.
This feature is very useful if you have more than one person using the vehicle as it memorises seat and mirror positions for the 2 different smart keys.
So when you open the vehicle, depending on which key fob you use (user 1 or user 2), the seat and mirror are setup for the corresponding person/key fob.
This feature is also non dependant on the 3 memories and will remember the last seat/mirror positions on re entering the vehicle if seat/mirror were adjusted.
It also has the affect of doubling your seat memories as you have 3 seat memories per key fob.
Will let you know how I go have already located the CCF field.

Ok, so im back from holiday's picked up a nasty ear infection but recovering so are back into it now!
Tried to enable "Lazy Entry" but this didn't work! I'm starting to hit some hurdles now as some features need multiple fields changing together and my thinking is this is one of them, if at all possible to enable. There is also and "Easy Exit" field and as this involves the "smart key" of which there is also a CCF field for this I probably need to start looking into this deeper. Making it harder is the naming aswell. On my driver configure options "Easy entry/exit" is actually "Lazy entry" in the CCF Field Big Cry
Sounds confusing - it is!!!!! Sometimes I go in and after a while have to walk away as it does your head in. I'm sure some LR nerd/tech is having a laugh but I don't have the luxury of an instruction manual! Twisted Evil
Scanning another LR tomorrow and have a long list of fields to look at to compare so hopefully will make some things clearer and mean we are not as much feeling around in the dark which sometimes this feels like.
I have a pretty intimate knowledge of my CCF now and have identified some missing "byte" locations in "block" 2 of my CCF. What does this mean? Not sure at the moment but will be able to do a direct comparison tomorrow to see if there is any correlation. It's seems strange that out of the 5 Block Code CCF, block 3 is blank, 3 blocks all follow a logical numerical sequence except for "Block 2" which is missing about a dozen "Byte" fields.
Will update when I have some clearer information. MY15

4x4i / Connect and View

Wednesday's scan of another vehicle went, if not to plan, well and answered a lot of questions.
We now know that the 4x4i and "Conect and view (CCF Field)" (camera on the move) are a couple of the missing CCF fields. This means they don't exist in the Freelander 2's CCF code. Block "2" to be precise.
Good news is now that we know the Block, Byte, Bit code we can download it from "As Build" data to my CCF to enable, which we are ready to do.
Bad news was loan car was not optioned with TPMS so still don't have any leads on CCF settings for displaying target pressures and actual pressures. But I have been known to be described as a "dog with a bone" a delay here only.
So may have some news shortly and some pics fingers crossed! MY15

Ive just had a Discovery Sport HSE on loan for a day, and that had the rear camera on the move button so here follows a couple of personal observations.

1. the vehicle behind when viewed on the screen appears to be a hell of a lot further away than it actually is
2. because the camera is off centre then the view on the screen is abit one sided
3. if you cant have a TV screen operating in view of the driver due to safety, why can you have a moving rear camera image ??
4. I really don't see the point unless your in an offroad situation where you cant get out and look behind, (reversing camera ...yes (once you get used to it) but a live image rear view camera??)

Not something I would go out of my way to have

Rog you can have DVD in motion fitted as I have done! (Off road use only) and the rear camera in motion is handy if you have a trailer hitched up as you can see the load. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Very useful when you have rear cargo area loaded to the ceiling!
In the Freelander 2 rear camera is pretty central, can't say I've noticed a squewed view, not sure where the DS camera is in relation.
In relation to TV/DVD on the move, this also won't be a issue for me shortly thanks to a CCF change but for the sake of "peace and quiet" I Havn't mentioned this earlier Whistle Rolling with laughter

ok I sit corrected as to the view of a towed load but how does the car know if your off road unless you adjust TR or the sat nav can detect it ??

I know LR have fitted dual view screens to Range Rovers for a while now which I like the idea of but the FL2 screens are single view only I believe.

StuartC - the camera on the DS is located to the right hand side of the boot handle, so only a few inches away from the boot edge, not sure where it is located on a FL2.

Sounds similar Rog, about 15cm to the right of centre.
If you really want to you can fit a dual view screen to the Freelander 2 also. RRS and Freelander 2 of same year ran same systems. Simple as enabling another field in the CCF and changing screen, not really high on my to do list. MY15
