United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Managed to get 1st service price down to £220 at Stratstone Bury Very Happy maybe due to no courtesy car needed. Booked in for Thursday and expecting the excellent service experienced so far (software patches needed on a few occasions to resolve Reduced Engine Performance) to continue Thumbs Up Barry, Matt, Mel et al at Bury always get an excellent rating from me on the LR questionnaire!

First Service

Hillendale Landrover Colne Lancs, first service £395. They found a problem with rear door not locking and fixed with no problem. I found the whole process excellent with Joanne very informative with everything. The car came back looking like it was just out of the showroom. Not the cheapest by far looking through this forum but I am not moaning as experience shows you get what you pay for in general. Thank you Hillendale and Joanne for first class service. Very Happy

Hi,
Just got my FL2 TD4 and I know I should read the manual etc but can I get a quick answer on the following:

From brand new how long is the warrantie? i.e in years?

I guess you have to have the FL2 serviced at a proper dealer too to keep warrantie valid?

What is the approx cost of each service to keep the warrantie valid?

Cheers friends! Many Thanks,

Ade

hi your warranty is valid 3 years from date that is in the service book its normaly the date you took delivery,

the answer is no you dont have to use a l/rover dealer for servicing under block exemption you can have it serviced at any gararge that is vat registerd or an independant l/r specilist you can still take it to a dealer and ask them to put any service updates that the cars computer needs i dont know weather thay will charge for this.and your warranty will not be affected as long as you use genuine l/r parts. Exclamation Exclamation
the other option is do what i do buy the parts at trade price over the 11 mths, buy your oil from a supermarket chain and haggle round with the dealers for a labour cost Bow down Bow down my 1st service parts are 1-pollen filter,1-oil filter,1-sump washer, and 6ltr of oil cost was about 27.00 plus excluding oil as i allready had some i got the labour for 90.00 plus vat total cost was approx 127.00 Mr. Green saving 200.00, and itwas done at the dealer Thumbs Up Thumbs Up rainy-city

Who's regarded as being the best option in the Midlands please?

Had the vehicle from Stafford and would have no issue going back there but I would like to know who else I should be trying even if it's just to try to get them to match.

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Just booked ours in for 1st service.

Rang around a few dealers within a sensible distance first. Prices ranging from £299 (Stratstone Woodford), £411 (Guy Solomon Maidstone) to £475 (Beadles Sidcup).

Went back to Beadles with the quotes as thats where we got our fl2 and impressed with them handling the REP issue we had in the summer, and they agreed to price match £299 all in. So, as loads of people have said here already, definitely worth asking for discounts!

---

Dropped car off at 8, very friendly lady took the keys and showed me to the courtesy fl2. Back 4 and half hours later to a freshly valeted car. Same friendly lady took me through the paper work explained everything was okay (as expected for a car with 7.5k miles) - and also booked in next week for rear wiper motor replacement under warranty.

Will definitely look to using them again - especially if they can price match.

£199.97 at Team Valley Landrover, inclusive of coding for towing FoC, mini-valet and a lift to the Metro Centre while it was being done. Nice people to deal with.

Stratstone Newcastle (where I bought the car) quoted me £299! Brian

1st service

Booked mine in to Guy Salmon Knutsford. £310. Not sure why there's such a variety of prices across the dealerships but seems a fair price. ...

Guy Salmon, Knutsford did the service today. £270 all in. Serviced while I waited - used free wifi, free hot drinks, biscuits, muffins, newspapers, magazines, TV, comfy seating. Brilliant. ...

Rather than pay their grossly inflated prices for the inclusion of drinks, magazines and TV etc, I would sooner sit on a wet wooden bench outside in the rain with an umbrella and a flask of tea if it meant £50 less on the final bill Neutral .

"Wooden bench in the rain..."...? By the 'ecky thump, tha knoooows... thee's right tough in t'Dales, by gum.

Each to his own, I guess. I'd rather you sat outside on a bench in the pi Censored ing rain, as well. I'd pay you £50 not to spoil my dealer experience! Very Happy ...
