Just had the ist service done by Nene Overland at Peterborough £226 plus £20 for bits. I was quoted £467 by Pilling at Welwyn Garden City and £344 by Chipperfield Land Rover. Nene did an excellent job and loaded us a car for the day to go shopping and the wife spent what we had saved! Came back to a cleaned car and have checked and everything as far as I can see has been attended to. The warranty is not invalidated and will go back at 30000 miles.
Worth the travel.

Anyone got any suggestions for the Wiltshire & Gloucestershire area - local Swindon dealer wants £398 plus £12 for hire car.

My 2009MY Freelander 2 XS is due its first service shortly. I want to stay with a LR dealer so that I keep the book stamped up in case of warranty problems. Living on the Norfolk / Cambridgeshire / Lincolnshire border its similar distance to Kings Lynn, Peterborough and Boston. Has anyone experience of dealers in this area or nearby and how much do they charge for the First Service?

Rule of thumb, wouldn't pay more than 250 for the first one.

I used Footloose 4x4 in Peterborough they are a LR specialist they do a lot of work on expedition conversions and they know their stuff. you will still need a dealer to do the paintwork inspection though.

Thats pricey!

Negotiate, just ask them the cheapest price and if they will price match.

If not there are plenty who will. If I can do it in the north of Scotland, it's should be a doddle down south.

I had my first service done today at Beadles in Sidcup.
When I booked it in I was quoted £377.00, when I dropped it off they had a sign at reception saying they price match within a 50 mile radius.
An alternative 28 miles away was quoting £243.00, I rang Beadles and they matched the price
Even washed and hoovered the car.
Now on what to spend the £130 I saved? 09 FL2 HSE auto Lago Grey

Mine was €150 and I supplied my own oil. Just had the second service and that was €220, and again supplied my own oil.

If your dealer is OK then get your own oil as it will normally be about 50% heaper than from the dealer. Also top up the windscreen wash yourself before you leave the car with dealer as they normally charge for a litre what the cost is for 5 litres from say Halfords As they say "every little helps". After what the team say on here about how the dealers 'wash' the cars (Brushes) I'm going to do what was suggested and ask them not to wash it in future.

I already ask them not to bother washing mine, EV will back this up but they use TFR and and it removes any polishes that you have administerd, it also seems to take the black out of any plastic trim also.
