That is about the correct amount, obviously depending on the complexity of the RTC and the amount of time and man power taken to investigate the fatal. Each one varies some are straight forward and others are very complex taking months and sometimes years to finalise.

So we're talking about an average amount rather than, as Dunroof said, a minimum? Brian

It is very hard to put an exact figure on it but i would say on average its about right. But if you have any Motorway stood at peak times that costs 1 million pounds an hour in lost revenue so they tell me.

We are loosing the point here though, it may well cost a million to investigate. However speed camera placement is definitely to generate revenue, not reduce accidents. Talking generally there mind. I'm sure some are placed in accident blackspots and I have no problem with that.

And to all them people that never do anything wrong, I commend you. Bow down

I have to agree with you on that, when i look at where some of the cameras are put it makes me laugh, as they are no where near any accident black spots. But it is the local councils who place the cameras not the Police. We all have our own opinion on speed cameras, i don't think they do much good no matter where they are. They cant detect no insurance, no licence and drink drivers etc etc

Source - Association of British Insurers abstract of statistics 2008-2009.

Accident Blackspots for want of a better word, should have improvements sponsored by insurance companies, in essence they are paying out millions for injuries/damage at these loci, if they could reduce them, they could save a mint?
