Mountain man, did you buy the LR originals? Do you have a product code? Does this mean they are available? Please let us know, some of us are really anxious to get them (before summer is out).

If they are out in the dealers!!... it is just another level of customer service that the dealers and Land Rover have NOT provided Evil or Very Mad They KNOW who needs the roof rails but just have not bothered to call us. This is where customer service would come on leaps and bounds....a quick call to me from either of them stating Ahh!! Mr Fraz, you will be pleased to know the roof bars are now available, we apologise for the delay, the cost is '£XXX' would you like us to arrange a set for you, and book you in for installation??'....to me that would say so much and I would feel wanted as a customer................dream on!! Sad Confused

defkalion,
yes they are landrover parts,LR006608
& they are available now,i ordered them on monday & they were in stock wednesday!
no cross rails yet, they are on back order.
strangely there is a cross member at the rear, don't know why
by the way,I rang them to see if they were available yet,
even though they knew i wanted them, seems sales don't talk to parts!

desperate for roof rails

been waiting for the damn rails since ordering last december!! I get the impression that I need to drive to the UK to get them(!?)
Not impressed with LR at all on this...

So what's the advice, beat the parts out of your sales person?

Thanks for the update and the part #. In anticipation of everyone ordering the cross bars once the roof rails became available, I ordered the cross bars about 3 weeks ago and they arrived this week.

Hopefully the duct tape that's holding them on the roof right now will not ruin the paint Rolling with laughter ... Greg East

It was Nick at Yeovil LR that was selling the bars on eBay.

Never having had a vehicle with roof rails before, is it not possible to get generic cross bars to fit the manufacturer specific roof rails, or are the roof rails designed in such a way which makes this difficult ?

Also, for all you roof boxers out there, any recommendations for a roof box ? Anyone got one of those folding ones that Thule have brought out - the thought of having to store a roof box when not in use (50 weeks of the year) doesn't appeal Confused

Finally - for the few with LR roof rails already fitted, any chance of a piccy ?

BG

My local dealer says these are still blocked on their system, so they physically can't order them - so how on earth have Yeovil LR got them?

Mountain Man - where did you get yours? Conwy or James Edwards or somewhere else?

After a bit of research, I've come up with the following:

The roof rails are part no. LR006608, as previously mentioned. The original batch have now been purchased/accounted for, so there are no more currently available (unless you find a dealer with some). If a dealer trys to order some now, they will show on LR's parts system as "not yet available", rather than "out of stock". Apparently, this is a bit of manipulation by Caterpillar, LR's logistics contractor, as if they list it as "out of stock" it makes them look to LR like they're not managing stock levels very well, whereas if they list it as "not yet available" then it looks like it's not their fault. Rolling Eyes

Because of this, most dealers won't even know that any have been available yet, unless they happened to check their systems for the short period of time while they were available.

So bottom line, rails have been released, but are now out of stock.

There's also no book information for labour on fitting; my dealer has quoted me 1hr or less. As far as I know, the only dealer with any experience of fitting them to date is Conwy LR in Wales.

And I'm afraid that they are not compatible with the sunroof. Sad
