Hi Alex, Nice idea to replace the cap. Can you recommend where to buy that cap?
Did you ever try to open the cap? I so, what tool do you use?

My catch can is full of oil and I am loosing a lot of oil, so I have to repair PCV and try to run without catch can...

Romania 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Galway Green

Today I have changed engine cover. When I removed the air intake duct I was surprised to see the hose from PCV to air inlet duct out from inlet. Some oil trace around. Three month ago , I have had a problem and the air duct was removed. The mechanic showed me some oil trace in the air duct and told me to check PCV. I don t think that he left the hose disconnected by purpose.
I have observed a slight increase in diesel consumption and maybe a slight power reduction. No, faults on the screen.
Now, the inlet from PCV hose to air duct is AFTER air filter and MAF. According to my slim mechanical knowledge, The air volume measured by MAF it is not accurate. The air from PCV hose is added to the measured air from MAF and the engine ECU calculates more diesel for what he think to be the right mix for the power needed at a moment. This can lead to unfiltered air in admission, a smaller km/liter a loss of engine power and maybe a DPF shorter life ?
This is my question. I am not sure that I get it right. If you have an answer, please do post. Thank you.

Theoretically, in an ideal engine, with perfect and tight piston rings, there should be no air from the PCV system.
When all the hoses are in (their) place, the system is relatively closed and the MAF is metering the intake air correctly.
If the hose you talking about is disconnected, yes, unmetered and DIRTY air enters the engine.
Because the air enters the duct from two sources, then the MAF is metering slightly less air, therefore the drop in power.
But the dirt is the thing you need to worry...
