Hi all, I've noticed today the outside temperature reading on the dash had stayed at 10 Degs for about four hours,
now if there is no change in it over the next few days, I'll assume the sensor in the door mirror has failed and not one of the other two, So my question is......how easy is it to change? as I'm disturbing plastic in the colder months of the year
would it be OK to wait until a warmer day next year? (I don't have access to a garage)

Normally if a temperature sensor fails, the ECM default to a standard set value of -40°C.

Maybe the temperature just stayed at 10°C all day? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

that's puzzling then, I've got a stationary temp at morning start up,
which is the same a few miles later and remains so all day regardless of
being nearer sea level or not.  DAVE.

Play a hairdryer on door mirror, and see if it increases.
Although I am not sure over how quick the temperature display changes.

OK, I've hot had a chance to do anything with the sensor,
but yesterday I had a minus *3 which climbed to 4 degs and today I had 5 Degs
which is about correct, so I guess the motor has cured itself.  DAVE.

More likely that the wiring to the sensor is failing - every time you open the passenger door the wiring flexes, and it time it will fail.

Pull back the rubber covering the cables at the door hinge, you will probably see that the insulation is cracking, it's a good indication that the copper strands are giving up the ghost. Spend an hour or so with a soldering iron and fit extension pieces in the effected wires. Before the ones for the door lock fail. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
