There is an article about a price war in China because of over supply of EV's which may overflow to the UK and probably the European market ( the MOL only seems to think it only applies to the UK) it suggests many of these manufacturers are less than 4 years old and the price war may cause some of these manufactures to fail.
I suspect that if the manufacture fails then you are left with a car that has no warranty and worse still unable to be fixed or upgraded as software upgrades seems to be the repair method for EV's. Most European manufacturers are importing Chinese cars with modified dresses to disguise their origins so I assume these could be exempt from that problem, VW Group and Steliantis who produce about 80% of our cars are unlikely to fail due to this problem but will their EV prices drop or do we only buy their models and take the hit on higher prices? Will Hyundai and Kia join in the price cut, they are large enough to ride out a price war for a year or two?

Fiska went bust just a few months after rushing the Ocean to market before all the bugs had been ironed out.
It's a shame as the Ocean looked like a great contender as a replacement for the Freelander 2. The cars can now be bought very cheaply indeed, but with no warranty, no software support, or updates to solve particular issues, and virtually no spares available, it would be a real gamble buying one. Even a simple cracked windscreen would render an otherwise perfect vehicle as scrap, as no screens are available now. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Oh and contrary to the thead tiltle, new EVs are now available for about £11k with dealer discounts or preregistration, but that is for a pretty basic 100 mile range Dacia Spring.
Second hand offer the best value, often 30% off the new price for a 1 year old example, but as 2030 gets closer, second prices will hold better. I've been watching the auction prices, and the trade are paying more for EV, more even than the maximum trade prices, so prices are definitely on the increase. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate.
