Really? But it just looks like any other generic estate car.....Subaru styling (love it or hate it) used to be a bit different, not anymore. Regards

How about a Ford Bronco 2020? Way out of my league.

my brother in law has an XC90, fully loaded R Dynamic..... and hates it.

hes had nothing but problems with oversensitive automated safety features and then last week a whole raft of warning lights on the dashboard which have been cleared by Volvo now but they have left a different light on and dont know how to get rid of it.

he cant wait to get rid of it in December after 2 years.

He does say its a really nice car, and the tech is amazing, but just hasnt had a good experience with this one

Looks not really an issue, if I was going for looks then the new Mazda 6 Tourer, now that's a nice looking car but not a replacement for obvious reasons.

The 2020 Out back, and the 2019 Forester,, another possibility someone mentioned, both have slightly more ground clearance than the FL2, but worse entry / departure angles, significantly so with the Outback. But then virtually all my literally everyday off metalled roads is on farm / forest / moorland type tracks, none of the extreme stuff beloved of bearded blokes from Barnsley dressed in muddy wellies and boilersuits.

A replacement is something have to be thinking about at some point, 120,000 miles and having just done the big big service a year early it's not a pressing issue yet, touch wood.

So far there are some interesting YouTube reviews from America.

My cousin has an xc60, it’s a company car about 3yrs old , he’s been all over country in without 1 issue. People say landrovers are dreadful cars but I’ve never had a problem with mine. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

I do like the XC60/XC90 as they still (if you squint) look a bit boxy rather than just a raised estate car.......clutching at straws here Laughing Regards

Now we are getting near to the Defender launch and in some ways it looks very FL2 like, any views re thread topic? Waiting to take a proper look.

Also noticed that the redesign on the Discovery Sport has more than a whiff of the D5 about it, albeit without the hideous arse.

If someone wants to buy me one.....anyone of the new defenders, then I shall gladly wear pink booties. In fact I’ll dress as mr blobby and the defender can be pink. But please, please, buy me one.

I love the look of the new defender. I think that LR have done the right thing by aiming it at the same crowd that buy the G wagon or range rover, the real money is in selling premium SUV's to the middle classes that drive on the roads. The market for people who want or need a basic and robust off roader and capable vehicle is much smaller and for that market it's not viable to spend so much.

I'm still concerned about the modern land rovers. The electric reliability issues and ad blue problems with the diesel make them a no go for me. Even if it's covered under the warranty, I don't want to spend my time taking it back to the garage.

I agree that the company has to go where the money is which in this case is premium Chelsea tractors however outside of the UK and in Africa and the middle east there are huge numbers of Toyota & Mitsubishi pickups so there is a market out there.

As for modern diesels I decided some time ago that my next car will be petrol or electric, diesel especially with euro 5/6 standards is just too difficult. My son has a 3.0 Porsche Cayenne and called me yesterday to say that he needs a new DPF and associated bits and the cost will be £1800 and it's not covered by warranty. I had a look at the LR extended warranty and that excludes the whole exhaust system too. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE
