As a farmer maybe anaerobic digestion might be a serious contender for improving profitability. Maybe not on a chicken farm, but cattle certainly generate enough biomas to make a lot of energy.

Some of the larger farm anaerobic digesters take food waste from schools hospitals etc. to increase capacity.

Farm Digesters by Johnathan Letcher might prove an interesting read.

chicken poop makes an excellent digester fuel, if blended with say maize.

quite a few digesters are getting constructed in the local area. A controversial thing really as they need a lot of land to grow fuel for them which could be producing food.

Seems the average consumer would prefer electricity to recharge their iphone over a sandwich.


I believe Shropshire especially is getting blighted with the maize harvest operations for these digesters blocking the roads with tractors at the very muddy late harvest period. At work
