Gave the Fl2 a long overdue wash and I managed to get some protection on the paintwork too . Wheelsand tyres were given a good clean with some Powermaxed tfr and then dressed with some Finishkare fk#108as , paintwork shampooed with Powermaxed shampoo then finally a coat of Sonax polymer net shield which will see the winter out .

Finally got round to buying Bilthamber Auto Balm wax, having perused it for some time and their medium clay bar.
Used last weekend and the black VW looked absolutely stunning, really wet deep shine, really impressed, 500 odd miles later however the car looks like its been rolling around a farmyard Confused
The Landrover will get similar treatment this weekend hopefully.

I used a 12v rotary and it was crap. Get a proper 240v DA and save a lot of time. Not cheap but worth the money if detailing is your thing. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

A DA polisher is what you need especially when correcting the paint on your car.

I had some spare time yesterday so I thought I'd give the Fl2 a thorough was , first up wheels /tyres and arches given a good soaking of Powermaxed tfr followed by a scrub and rinse . Paintwork was washed with Automart shampoo then rinsed and dried . Powermaxed Iron/fallout remover was then applied and left to dwell , this revealed a smaller amount of contamination than I was expecting (initially clear liquid which turns purple/red ) upon contact with particles etc , this was then thoroughly rinsed . Next up was to apply Autosmart tardis (tar remover) to the lower half and this was left for a few minutes then wiped with a microfibre pad afterwhich the car was rinsed again . The next stage was to give the Farecla clay mitt which I'd not used up until now a try , and I must admit it really worked a treat removing any bonded contaminants and being a lot quicker and easier than a claybar. After another thorough rinse and drying I applied a coat of Sonax Polymer Netshield sealant , this was left for a few minutes and then buffed off. The tyres were dressed with Finishkare fk#108as vinyl and rubber dressing . The Sonax Pns should be good for 4 to 6 months protection and will get a coat of Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer after every wash . This combination should iffer some good winter protection.

I removed the lower door trims today and cleaned behind where the dirt/ mud tends to accumalate - well worth doing as it's a proper dirt trap - takes seconds to remove trims (just pull off and push straight back on afterwards) Thumbs Up

Sorry if this causes dismay amongst you avid cleaners of vehicles but I dont really like cleaning cars, mainly because we live down a lane frequented by farm vehicles and so the FL2 is dirty most of the time.

But SWMBO doesnt like getting in and out of a really dirty Landrover - gets her clothes dirty. Therefore it has to be kept reasonably clean. So Ive got cleaning of my FL2 down to less than 30 mins.

When lane is really muddy then a regular spray with hose pipe keeps the mud at a minimum.

On wash day :
1) jet wash everything to remove as much dirt as possible
2) spray alloy wheels with any of the purple to red wheel cleaners
3) use lance attachment to apply a snow foam (at same time filling buckets (with grit traps in bottom) with clean water
4) wash over with wash mitt using 2 bucket method
5) use agitator on wheels (old kitchen washing up brush)
4) jet wash off everything
5) micro fibre towel
6) Black WOW Exterior Plastic Trim Restorer to the door trim and other trim (dont know what this stuff really is but you use very little and a small but expensive bottle lasts years)
7) Done !

Twice or maybe 3 times a year apply Auto Glym Super Resin Polish and also in between times times apply a wax if Ive nothing else to do - which is a rare event . Jules

Aqua Wax

I don't usually rave about cleaning products but having just used Autoglym Aqua Wax I must say that I found it to be very good. As it's it's name suggests you can use it on wet paintwork and I tried it straight after rinsing off with the jetwash, spraying it on sparingly and taking it off with a microfibre towel. The result is a very quick, shiny Landy in no time at all. ๐Ÿ˜€ Cheers,
Raz

No driveway, car lives 2-wheels up on the pavement, with bus-stop opposite, so most of my routine has to be quick, otherwise I'm spending hours ducking and diving in and out of passing traffic.
Bucket of Bilt Hamber auto wash, then if I get the chance I follow this up with their double speed-wax. Pushed for time yesterday so used Poorboys spray and gloss in place of the wax.
Bilt and Hamber auto wheels brings the corners up a treat, spray on, leave until it goes a gruesome blood red colour then generally it's a light brush off.

Update . . . Bloody bird Censored on the bonnet

Cheers guys - got a good deal on a nearly new DAS 6 Pro last night. Think I'm going to go with Menzerna after talking to guy at CYC. Wife too fond of getting her Narvik FL2 washed by the Eastern Europeans so some swirls to deal with.

How are you getting on with the daspro da? Thinking that itโ€™s time to spoil myself with one. It seems to get a good reputation and reasonably priced compared to the megs da. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Try a rotary they're a lot nicer to use and will achieve better results quicker.
