I'm worried that due to the fact the damp test was carried out today, which is past the point it was a year old, obviously this was due to the muppets at Ebor leisure, but I have this feeling that rocking the boat could get them turning round and saying sorry you haven't had the damp report carried out a per the required schedule

Even if I did, what would I get Question I just want a caravan that's not leaking, which they will do, what extra is it worth Question

What would you ask for Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've asked that too, it was about 3 years on my last one

Tow balls a little rusty, wondering if it could be that Idea

Or reversing with the stabiliser down Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Have you seen the pads, they are nothing like brake pads, they are like a brittle, one piece, plastic mushroom with an indent in the top where they contact the towball. I've just removed mine and cleaned up the faces. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I haven't seen them yet, I collect on Saturday

But I think I have a spare set, but I'm also sure the wear indicator wasn't showing worn

I may have a set in my van toolbox, but they don't cost much anyway Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You could try a follow up with swift but they're likely to refer you straight back to the dealer with whom your contract exists. If they're offering to repair the damp, you're likely to have to accept that. I have heard of numerous cases though where due to the volume of water ingress repairs dealers are seeing, they are twisting Swifts arm to take them back to the factory for repair. See what your dealer plans to do with yours.
I need to be careful what I say on here but since 2010 there have been many vans with water ingress issues. Seemed to coincide with Baileys Alu-Tech launch and others reaction to it with their design and sealant choice !! FL2 2007 57 GS

Alko stabiliser pads (side only) are about £22 a pair, trade. They take about 30 seconds to remove old and fit new. Only reason to replace at that age is if thy were seriously contaminated or they're too lazy to spend 5 mins with some emery paper to clean them. Alko estimate they're good for about 20,000 miles !! If they do wear, Alko supply shims to be added to get the stabilising effect back to spec. FL2 2007 57 GS

They make 0.3 and 0.5mm shims that can be fitted behind the pads as they are inserted to make up for manufacturing tolerance or pad wear. With these, it's rarely necessary to replace pads because they are worn. Unless you tow 20,000 mile a year ??!! FL2 2007 57 GS

Replaced the pads, though, when pushing one out a rubber gromit came out also, I put this on the new pad top and pushed it in, seemed to hold ok

Sending me a set out too when they come instock and I have given my tow all a good sand down also Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Well the saga continues,

Caravan went in for a damp repair found on the service that they redid

Remove and replace the 3 front window seals, the channel/rail that holds the windows too

I stupidly forgot to ask if this would be a neat job and got this instead

Credit to the service techs on site, they tried to solve it, but quite rightly said openly that they could not solve the issue there and then so have kept the caravan to sort correctly, clicked be more apologetic,

To be continued....., Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Shocker ! Don't these manufacturer approved workshops have any quality control processes before they try to fob off the poor customer with their amateurish efforts with a sealant gun ?
Had the rail even been off or merely "over-sealed" - a very poor substitute.

Beat them up about this. Poor, poor, poor. FL2 2007 57 GS

The rail had been off, I could see the new sealent tape behind it

Apperently this silicone is cosmetic, but still they admitted it was shockingly bad

Still, the owner has appologised and has admitted it is his fault and is trying to improve things but is fighting a uphill battle when they carry out a job like mine Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
