So i have a fairly mild shudder that sometimes occurs, but only under light acceleration when going uphill...

It's a "front end" shudder so probably not a torque converter or anything lik ...

My understanding is that it's 4 wheel drive initially and becomes predominantly 2 wheel drive at around 40kph (thanks to the haldex)

I had this issue, eventually fixed it by doing an ATF flush with proper JWS3309 spec mineral oil (LR002748).
Not JWS 3324 or one of those multi purpose, multi spec synthetic oils..
