I've had similar issues with my MY11. Need to confirm with vin numbers but pretty sure this is the same thing. Will this be done FOC by the dealer?

Ok could polycarbonate not be a bit brittle? I was thinking something a bit more like a very hard wearing rubbery sorta plastic.

I would suggest polycarbonate. Easily bought in sheet form. It's high impact, used in applications such as riot shields etc.

Replaced mine today too. 3 quid from RS for the battery, new case for a fiver from eBay, good as new!

Most cars post 2005 record data in the airbag control module. It's just accessing that data that is the issue!
