I've just done my Experience, and they said the one thing they do is it get a towbar fitted, as it protects the rear bumper and exhaust from the majority of damage, so I may start with that.

I found you have to unlock the door first, then pull the handle. Unlike the front doors where just pulling the handle unlocks it.
