More likely that the wiring to the sensor is failing - every time you open the passenger door the wiring flexes, and it time it will fail.

Pull back the rubber covering the cables at the door hinge ...

I suspect by "run safe engine" the OP means that the engine isn't an interference type.

IE when the timing belt/chain snaps the valves don't come down low enough to meet the pistons comin ...

Forget snake oil.
Fit a drain plug and change the oil every time you change the engine oil - mine was good as new after 185,000+ miles.

Sucking the oil out will leave the metal filings in the bott ...

The problem is that the existing pump does two jobs.
1- transfers the fuel out of the tank to the engine - actually sucks it out.
2- boosts the pressure to 24,000 PSI (1,600 bar).

The front is more like a sliding sleeve over two castellated gears.
The rear is more like two multi plate hydraulic clutches.

I would also be considering replacing the engine mounts - if they have enough play to slice through a hose they sound like they are at the end of their useful life.
