auto gearstick selector

has anybody got any info on the gear seletor knob on a auto transmission got in tonight and the switch went bang and now the switch is stuck in can still select gears but need to get fixed in case it goes into reverse 07my Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Baltic Blue,Privacy Glass,Ebony black leather,Land rover detachable towbar,S/S Side bars,Climair wind deflectors,Bramble Rash,

sorry about that alex what I need is how to remove the gear knob on a auto to repair the selector button that has colapsed
