In those circumstances, it's called taking the safety course.

England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

Many times I have been towing the van in an empty inside lane at 60 ish and have had to pull out into the middle lane behind a middle lane numpty , flash him out of the way, overtake and then pull back in to the inside lane only to see in my mirror the said numpty pull back out into the middle lane and carry on in is mindless way. I can see why so many HGV drivers get fed up and undertake them.

CG if your in the middle lane and have a blowout you are only one lane from the barrier and the traffic going the other way and two lanes and the verge to your left Question

When Traveling in the middle lane at 75mph no body should be trying to pass you anyway and if they do they should use the fast lane.
Also for extra safety I like to put my rear fog lights on especially when it is raining Thumbs Up

Rolling with laughter to keep other drivers on their toes as the fog light glare hides the brake lights in the spray Rolling with laughter
Rear fogs should be banned - but of course that's just my opinion Thumbs Up

Yeah, the rear fogs, you could argue that heavy rain is a condition that seriously effects visability and therefore perfectly legal.

I only use rear fog lights if visibility is seriously reduced. They can cause glare and obscure the brake lights. Rolling Eyes
I also do a lot of mile and try to keep to the inside lane where possible but do tend to find myself migrating to the middle lane if nothing is behind just to prevent me from keep pulling out to overtake lorries and cara Censored an. Rear fogs are only supposed to be used when visibilty is less that 100 yards and it is an offence to have them on at anyother time. Glad to notice recently that Surrey police were pulling drivers who had there rear fogs on and handing out £30 fixed penalty notices for having them on when not needed.

Rear Fog Lights should be banned for use in any other condition other than Dense Fog, when its raining they create so much glare it is actually dangerous to other road users, and why is it that the ones with the rear fogs on are the ones that go past you doing excess of 70 mph as if there anyone stupider to be going faster than them to hit them anyway if it is that bad a visibility they should not be doing these speeds.

Also on Motorways in heavy traffic the ones in a line of traffic with Rear fogs on cause every one to brake unnecessary because as they move out of line the other vehicles see the rear fogs and confuse them with brake lights.

Rant over I'm done.
