Started her up the other day & had some bizarre faults....

- Message saying that HDC was not available
- Stereo wouldn't turn on, light/time only with LR logo coming on briefly at start-up
- Parking sensors had no sound, but dash light showed they were on

...drove for a few minutes, then turned her off, removed the fob & all restarted fine! Since then it's repeated the HDC warning once but the stereo/parking sensors have been fine. Started this morning in -6C no issues.

Any ideas, it's an 07 XS with 26k on the clock serviced by a dealer in August so I presume all software is up to date?? Could the battery be reaching end of life??

If it keeps doing then worry, the HDC fault is not uncommon in the cold weather and will be ok in under a minute, as for the other faults they can all be associated with putting the fob in to quickly and pressing the start button and the ignition has not booted up correctly. If it keeps doing it then worry but a few of us have had the HDC problem and it was mentioned on here about three weeks ago but I am unable to find it at the moment. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Thanks for the replies. Thinking about it I only did 2 very short runs in the cold to fill up before the VAT went up, then it sat there for a day before being started in again at about -2C when I got the issue so maybe the battery was struggling or I did indeed push the button too quickly? Anyway, will keep an eye on it!

I think that warning seems "normal" on cold days, but disapears after several seconds. If you get this message for a longer period or it does not turn off, then its time to plague your stealer  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I've had the HDC warning the last couple of days - and its been in the (detatched) garage not outside. Still cold though!

This morning I checked more throughly and the HDC symbol would flash if I tried selecting it. By the time I'd got the dog and swmbo into the car and shut the garage the HDC would switch on and off OK. Engine running all the while.

So temperature related. Should I worry enough to report it to dealer so its 'on file' should it fail completely next winter when out of warranty?

My garage is bloody cold also, I have a bucket with three inches of water in and it is now frozen solid. So I am not suprised that the oil in thr Haldex Unit has thickened up a bit. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

If the door is jammed open you'll need the window triple glazing

I was going to post the same thing. 'HDC system fault check not available' or something like that. only did it twice, both times in sub zero temperatures... I turned the car off and back on and all was OK
