rear coil spring replacement

Not a fl but evoque. Just had wife on the phone, car failed motley, needs rear coil spring replacing, garage has said hub sized and if penetrative oil doesn't work then will have to take it all off and press it out???
What the ... are they talking about???
Any thoughts

The shock is a slip fit into the hub carrier. It sounds like it has seized in, but it's easy enough to spread the carrier clamp enough to free the bond. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Page 231 of the free JLR manual explains the rear suspension.

The spring is on a strut which incorpoartes the shock absorber. The strut neeeds to be removed from the hub carrier/knuckle. The strut slides into the back of the knuckle and a bolt clamps the knuckle around the end of the strut. I can be difficult to separate - the knuckle clamp needs to be spread apart which releases the strut. There are several ways to do it .







strut is BLUE, Knuckle is GREY/BROWN Jules
