While I was looking for the details of the fuses I found a service on Ebay that will reprogram the module's configuration to match the car. £100 though!!!

Jules have you tried a hard reset, in case the FET control ccts are confused. Also the FETs monitor each and every lamp cct and will shut down if an unexpected result is found in wiring cct. However you are reporting similar fault on 2 separate FET ccts therefore I would by looking at the controlling switch or logic for sidelights. Have you checked that all other lighting functions are working and that all lamps are out. Another thought -- is there a common earth to the 2 lamps, and does the indicator and headlamps work in units. Have you tried unplugging one of the headlight units to see if that affects the other one?

Sorry Jules but I have looked at the HID wiring diagram in the Repair Manual and cannot see an obvious cause.

No, missing lights are the front sidelights (round, 7 LEDs) and sometimes the DRL strip.

have you tried using a multimeter and checking for voltages at the connector on the back of the headlight these can sometimes corrode and need a clean up |

Just to be clear this is not how the car normally works. The round 7-LED lights are normally called "DRL" and the LED strip pattern is normally called "signature strip" Normal operation is this: OFF, "signature LED" strip is lit brightly and the round 7-led DRL lights are on Sidelight, "signature LED" strip lit dimly, round DRL lights off Headlight, "signature LED" strip lit dimly, round DRL lights off, main headlight on Auto, either "OFF" state or "Headlight" state Also, when I unlock the car from locked state, the DRL lights come on for about 5 seconds, whatever the state of the switch. |

It is worth noting that DRL do not come on when vehicle is not in gear. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey |

My old BMW had "halo" LED DRLs (which were lit permanaently) and proper bulbs for sidelight and headlights. But from what you are saying the round 7 LED light that I took to be a sidelight because it looks like a sidelight is actually the DRL and the siganture strip is actually the sidelight and not a DRL. This is obviously a source of some of my confusion and not helped by the column stalk showing a light symbol for sidelight rather than something resembling the signature strip. I must bve getting old. ![]() |
