Loose trim round rear door window.

The black plastic trim on the inside of my n/s/r door (left) is loose fitting on the front top corner and rattles. I've tried pushing it on firmly, but it always comes loose again. The o/s/r (right) is fine. What keeps the trim on? How can I fix it? Thanks.

There’s 2 or 3 screws as I remember then the panel pops off as you work your way round it it is held on with pop in clips it’s probably some of these that are broken replace the broken ones and put it back together see if it’s cured it.

Are you referring to the door trim or the plastic trim around the inside of the window?

The door card clip is LR013135 I think.

The window trim I think just pushes in to clip. Here in Australia where it can be very hot, I have experienced the window trim becoming distorted. There is then no option but to replace. Current: FL2 2014 SD4 SE Indus Silver. 39,000km as at Sep 24
Gone: Fl2 2013 TD4 SE Orkney Grey. 64,000 -> 83,000km
Gone: FL2 2011 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver. New->215,000km

I have had all the trim pieces off to add acoustic insulation. But nevertheless I have sort of forgotten how they go on as it's quite a few years ago.

But from memory, they sort of clip in & I think you will need to take it off as the corner was a bit irritating to get into place. Start from the bottom of the vertical section, front or rear leg, which goes down behind the door trim panel.

You may need to take off the whole trim, & then reinstall it. Either the front corner or rear corner was more difficult to get back in, I can't remember which one.

But you do need to remove the door trim panel to then get to the bottom ends of the black plastic trim.

These are the only photos I have.

To get the trim panels off, look at the above link, there is some information on one of the pages somewhere. It's not difficult. Once you have done one door, you can do the rest blindfolded.

Do not pull the door trim panel off by the door pocket or you will snap it off. Then you have another problem. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for your reply. It's the trim around the window, not the door card. I don't think there are any clips. It may have just been moulded badly or distorted, I'm now thinking.

Yes, the window trim. You have confirmed my own thinking. It is either distorted or was moulded badly from production. Thanks.

Thanks. What you say confirms that there are no special fixings. My trim is probably just slightly mis-shapen at the front top corner. I think I know what to do now!

I have fixed the problem. The window trim should be fixed at the bottom, behind the top of the door card. Mine wasn't, at the front, near the b-post. I presume that the plastic lug was snapped off. I have used a short screw to hold it in postion so that it is pushed up into the top corner of the window frame. It is almost invisible. I didn't want to take the door card off, so that was the easy way to do it.
