I've actually had this problem and solved it by replacing the TCM but it won't work unless you can code it to the vehicle using SDD and you also need the old TCM as part of the coding sequence as long as the part number is the same this is possible using a used TCM takes about an hour to do Thumbs Up

Hello Boxa, I was wondering if you could help me?

We are installing a new engine and gearbox (Brand new, boxed). The new gearbox has the ECU attached, and we were hoping to use this rather than the original gearbox ECU.

The part number: 6G9N-14C336-CA is identical.

I have been told to use the old one, but it is a bit manky and has done a few miles. We would prefer to use the new one as it is shiny and already attached to the gearbox. We also have a version of SDD, so we could do some coding. This engine is the 3.2 i6 petrol.

I would be grateful for any advice,

Kind regards,

I’d Put the old one on for now and you can always fit the new one at a later date it’s quite involved coding it so get the car up and running first then when you’re happy everything is ok you could fit the new one

Hello Boxa,

Thank you for your reply, but I would like to know what is involved in the coding. When we have done other things, it was a case of connecting the mongoose, the laptop with SDD, putting in the code, and then searching.

Does this involve changing config files or the options there?

Kind regards,

if I remember correctly its in recommendations something like install new TCM then just follow the instructions you'll need the latest version off SDD which I think is 167 make sure you have your laptop plugged in and a good charger on your car battery because if anything goes flat it could Brick your TCM and then you are in BIG trouble

Good morning Boxa,

Thank you for your advice. WE do have ver:167 of SDD. Hopefully, as the part numbers are identical, there won't be too many problems.

Good advice too for the battery, which will start fully charged and be connected to a:
Sealey SPBC40 Battery Support Unit Charger & Maintainer 40A.

The transmission is, I think, a specific one for the 3.2 i6, LR001356.

Thanks once again,
