Have you tried starting the FL2 from another car using jump leads, effectively bypassing your maybe duff battery ? Jules

Yes definitely.

I probably killed the battery to be honest. Hopefully new battery will sort it.

I will check harness under air box for damage too.

It's concerning me that the RAC guy couldn't get into the diagnostics.

My OBD (diagnostic) reader gets its power through the plug from the car, so if the available voltage is low I would suspect it would not work correctly.

My battery back up kit is pictured below (before you ask - the tin of soup is an indication of scale - and plays no part in reviving the battery)

Thanks guys

RAC jumped it managed to get it to turn over but not stay running by jumping it. Sadly I wasn't at home when he was there.

Right so if the battery's Censored no diagnostics as you said it's an electric monster.

I will get a new battery hopefully it revives my 2 ton paper weight.

Thanks again

If you want to keep an eye on the battery there are monitors that output via Bluetooth to an app (both Android and iOS) that can show you voltage, both instantaneous and history (while the monitor has been fitted), cranking test and charging test.
I’ve got a BM2 fitted to each of our cars but there are others available.

They reckoned it was something to do with the wiring.

I do find it odd they managed to crank it though. It won't get that far for me. It now comes up with steering locked then shuts down this was after fully charging the battery.

The steering doesn't appear locked.

I hope they haven't messed up more than simply a flat knackered battery.

Just to update this eventually got round to getting a new battery delivered.

Sadly exactly the same fault on start comes up with steering column locked then shuts back down.

I think mine has the same steering lock as the Evoque as its keyless start and 14MY.

Still displaying multiple errors when you don't press brake to start.

I'm out of ideas now so I'm going to get a garage to look at it there's a specialist in Telford and Shrewsbury.

My local garage in Albrighton is very good too.

Whether or not it's just the column lock I have no idea the other errors is throwing a spanner in it like it's a Can bus problem. Could be mice had a chew on something. Like I said pre Christmas not a single issue.

Would the multiple errors in different modules indicate this perhaps? RAC couldn't get into diagnostics either.

I would still try a steering lock emulator.

Good idea thanks

Just had a read round as the car was cranked after sitting for a few weeks with a low battery could it be in crash mode?

I think I might have found the issue. I went in the glovebox, we have/had a mouse.

There were droppings on backseat/glovebox and a nest in my woolly hat in the door card etc so looks like it had a chew on something vital. Which explains the multiple errors.

Ok in that case I would revise my previous comment and suggest a cat emulator.

Why not fix it and keep it? Once the diff is done, you can continue to use it for years to come. Wink 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

I was tempted but its just too expensive to run now. The insurance was over £700 (that's with 6years NCD) and the tax is £300+

Shame its a nice car. Its a 2nd car so doesn't get much use at all.

Just going to get something small.
